Because people are uneducated about the disorders, and are in the mindframe that if they haven't gone through it, then it doesn't exist. In short : Ignorance.

People who don't have these conditions don't understand what life is really like for someone who does have these conditions. I am ADHD and yes I am medicated for it. I get upset about some people thinking that it is something that people can grow out of. I have a friend that has a 9 year old daughter and she refuses to do absolutely anything about her ADHD and I have warned her that the only thing that will make things easier for her daughter is to put her on medication, and she does nothing else for it either. Oh well not my problem I guess she will have to deal with the results of what happens. You just have to learn to ignore these people who say these things because you are special because you are ADD. Did you know that people who are ADD and ADHD are more creative than anyone else! There is some food for thought.

That is what they only "believe", as they don't "know" any better. Look up the hazards of mercury in vaccines, & the hazards of fluoride & chlorine in your drinking water. Depression is real, ADD is also real, except the general population goes to the doctor & the symptoms get treated instead of finding the "cause" of the symptoms, therefore, you're constantly taking medications that aren't really good for you, as drugs are a "crutch" & over time, they will make you "cripple" to them. There are alternative treatments. bio-feedback, enzyme, accupuncture, holistic remedies. Don't pay attention to other's comments, people need to worry about themself rather than being unkind & rude. If comments are meant to make you feel uncomfortable, isn't that kinda dumb? That defeats the purpose of this forum. Good luck to you, dear.

They are very real.
However, they are getting to the point where they are getting a bit overdiagnosed. If a child consumes a lot of sugar and are hyper, a doctor will diagnose them as ADD or ADHD.
It makes it harder for the ones who actually do suffer from these conditions because then people automatically assume that all of them are misdiagnosed, and this simply isn't the case.
Keep on working hard. You are to be commended for your efforts. As for those who claim that they are just made up, they are misinformed. They don't know what they are talking about, and, therefore, their opinions are null and void.

I would like to make two points in response to your question.
First, there is a HUGE body of scientific evidence documenting a complex variety of physiological and biochemical abnormalities in these conditions. These biochemical changes are NOT imagined.
Second, none of the diseases in these categories have been shown to be CAUSED by a drug deficiency. Consequently, drug therapy is not likely to be curative.
It is important to appreciate that these conditions have multiple causes and that no two people may have the same combination of causative agents/abnormalities. Therefore, the best treatment approach is individualized and looks for any and all underlying physiological and biochemical abnormalities present in a given patient. Treatment should directed at correcting these abnormalities.
Best wishes.

that's obtainable. there's a concern of the thyroid oftentimes occurring as 'hypothyroidism.' that's whilst your thyroid can no longer produce a adequate quantity of thyroid hormones. this might result your metabolism, inflicting the guy with the priority to learn weight (and extremely tricky to lose, for this reason could make contributions to weight problems.) that's not the only reason, yet may be a clarification why some absolutely everyone seems to be obese.

Those symptoms you refer to are not caused by laziness, but they are simply excuses for a person's behavior. Labels if you will. Everybody has problems, and these people are no different than anyone else. ALL people need to learn how to cope and deal with their emotions and 'bad' situations rather than become chemically dependant. Doctors don't generally work towards a cure for a problem, they usually only treat one's SYMPTOMS with synthetic drugs. These are just my opinions based on my own life's experience.

Because the conditions are too complex for them to understand. If they can't grasp it, they can't understand it.
Hey, L A, those "chemicals" ended up saving my life. Learn something or shut up.

I agree with you but ADD is being over diagnosed and that may be where people are getting that its not even real. People who know nothing about it and have never had to deal with it think they know everything. try not to let it bother you dear

New things sometimes scare people. People have a hard time believing in what they can't see, and if it isn't someting apparent then they don't beleive it.
