find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter your stats and it will tell you how many calories a day you need to maintain your weight. take 300-400calories off that number and that's how much you need to lose weight.
eat 5-6 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones.
5-8 servings of fruit and vegetables a day.
8 glasses of water a day.
4-6 times a week cardio work out for 30-50min plus light weight training.
no junk food, no sodas, no white flour (white bread, pasta, cookies, cakes etc)

You can't do it with exercise alone, because it will all come back with your eating habits.
You need a lifestyle change.
Read the book "Protein Power" and learn about the correct way to eat. It is written by two medical doctors whose specialty is to help people to get in shape. It covers the eating part.

As far as exercise is concerned, the best ones will be the ones you are capable to enjoy. Try several until you stop with your best preference. Fast walks, jogging, biking, rowing, swimming etc...
Do exercise at least 40 to 50 min everyday, change your eating habits and you will be back in shape in NO TIME at all.
Good luck.

David,

Try the tips & guidance on the site below. The best approach is one that you adopt for the long-term and commit to do for the the rest of your life...(which will be a lot longer if you adopt good habits). Counting calories (food log); trying to eat better foods; drink water; and exercise are some of the ways to get there. It takes patience & persistence...and no one is perfect...so you'll have some ups and downs...but hang in there and keep your eye on the long-term goal. Best of luck!

Try walking (check out Leslie Sansone dvd's...there is a big biker guy that also walks in her dvd workouts, so anyone can do it). Also, maybe limiting carbs and sugar would help you reach your goal faster.
