I am not complaining, nor am I crying. I am just making a statement that it was a shock to me that the number of rude and down right mean remarks were here!

No, I did not expect the attacks on my intelligence. And the hateful and flippant remarks of some. I wanted to hear others opinions expressed with respect as I try to express mine. I wanted the chance to talk to see differing opinions. The ones that I have noticed have been atheists, who seem intent on putting down anyone who believes as inferior. I have only been surprised by a couple who were respectful, they don't seem to be the norm. When I get crude remarks they don't bother me because I guess that what I'd expect from an atheist and they aren't doing anything to change my perception.

Yes, I agree, but it's also a good place to get practice at turning the other cheek, in forgiveness and learning to be compassionate. I've also learned more about my own faith, and why I believe, re-affirming my faith. I've stuck with it only because there are a few good questions from a few sincere people and if I can help anyone with an answer, to give a gleam of hope or whatever, then it will be worth to it.
Whenever it gets to bad, I'll just go browse through some other topics for awhile then come back later.

I know what you mean. When I came to this section I expected healthy debate about "religion" and "spirituality" (probably because this is the religion and spirituality section). I did not realize so many would see this as an opportunity to attack and spout hateful filth. There is no doubt some of the postings have only cruel intent when posted. I thought it would be an opportunity to hear uplifting stories, struggles, enlightenments, questionings, etc. Instead I find myself defending my faith and beliefs repeatedly. May God give us the strength to continue our search for Him and for other believers without losing heart. Please don't leave, it is posts like yours that help others know they are not alone.

**There is one more thing, why do you suppose they believe an insult wins a debate. I have to wonder if they had domineering parents or maybe no parental influence. Many seem to have no manners and say things that would never be appropriate in real life. It is almost like a child freed in a candy store and they are gorging. Thinking of it that way makes me pity them.

Yes, I was expecting it. But that is fine. They hear it from some Christians at times as well, I'm sure. But we must all keep ourselves from throwing hateful remarks back, and just smile at the ones who act like that. I find there are a great many more who are not hateful, however.

Eph 4:29
29Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

I'm guessing that I'm a lot older than some of the regulars, although I'm not sure about that. It's enough to say that after 53 years on the planet, not much surprises me at this point.

It saddens me to see so much hatred and viciousness here, but I can't say that I'm shocked by it. People's true natures tend to come out when they don't think there'll be any consequences for what they say or do.

Try not to let it get to you, and remember that you came here to answer questions and help people. There's still a lot of fun and friendship, no matter how rugged some days can seem.

I'm not surprised to be honest. There are two things in the world that will cause a fight. Politics and Religion. Its why you're told never to bring it up in conversation.

And unfortunately, its just like it is anywhere else. The religious always think everyone else should live by their religion and then everyone else feels defensive and it explodes.

I was not that suprised, religion brings heated debate because people feel so strongly about it. Christianity is slammed the worse on this site, which I expected. However, others(non-Christians) will tell you Christians are the mean ones, this is because we talk of sin and the judgement of God which is essential to the gospel.

by way of fact this is with regard to the skill of God. You get God's interest with prayer. this is skill finished. merely like each and every thing else they're attempting to eliminate God from. it incredibly is a damaging ingredient. check out what handed off with Katrina and the fires In California. A united states can get carry of the sins of this is chief. it incredibly is Biblical. we would desire to repent and humble ourselves,so as that we can hear from God.(paraphrased)

Yes I was so shocked at first I thought I was in the wrong site! I even asked if this site was for Christians.

No I wasn't expecting it either.
Unfortunately it's just characteristic of the world we live in.
Don't throw in the towel. Remember Jesus came for those that are sick and in need of a physician.
