I'm going to get completely wasted and stoned out of my mind. Why you ask? My mother passed away and this will be the first mother's day without her. :-(
Get your mom something very nice, something you know she'd love and spare no expense, and don't forget the flowers. You never know if it will be the last mother's day.

My plan is to continue to be the best mother I can be. I've raised my daughter for 13 years as a single mother. My resolution is to listen more (try to hear what she's saying AND what she's not able to express) and lead by example. What I expect on Mother's Day is to continue with the privilege of being a mother. There has not been a day in these 13 years that I've EVER wished I wasn't a mother. My child is my gift. Mother's day just reminds me how blessed I am.

My mom and mother-in-law are both dead, and I get a little down around Mother's Day. My mom was a fiesty little red-headed Kentuckian with a sense of humor that wouldn't quit, and my mother-in-law was a lovely lady with a big heart. I miss them both very much.
I don't go to Church on Mother's Day any more after sitting through one too many "Women who have children are more (fill in the blank -- sensitive, caring, compassionate, etc.) than those who aren't moms." No, I am not kidding about that. Some pastors seem to forget that not all women are moms in the physical sense, although we may have cared for a lot of other people's children.
So I will probably take some flowers and goodies out to one of the local nursing homes and find a lady without any family to be with her on Mother's Day. It gets my mind off my own sadness and does something good for someone else.
Edit:
Lokasenna, I am so sorry for your loss. . .that first Mother's Day without them hurts like hell.
I will be sending loving thoughts along with mental and emotional strength out your way. Hang in there, hon, and know that you've got friends out here who care about you.
Edit #2:
I love you, too, TS and Stormchaser. (((BIG HUGS))) your way.

Maids Day???? Wow, what an eye opener, guess it's true though!
I expect (not demand, however) that I will receive a homemade card and breakfast in bed. Probably burnt toast and cold eggs, but I'll love them anyways. I get to pick the DVD! And free ice cream for mom's at Cold Stone!!!!!
I resolve to be patient!!! More kisses, quieter voice and at least 10 positive affirmations per child per day.

I'm buying my Mom a new stove and taking her out to dinner. She loves to cook and spends alot of time in her kitchen. As for what I am expecting... I don't care as long as everyone is healthy and happy. That is the best present ever!!! Blessed Be.

I spend every sunday afternoon with my mother, and she's not big on presents, so I'm thinking of making her a card, like a little kid and just giving it to her when I walk in the door--heck, she's saved everything I ever made in gradeschool and high school, and I made her a kitchen magnet last year out of sculpy that she loved, so why not?

Not to be categorized on religion ans spirituality.
Either Mothers day or not I always love my wife and never inflict injury to her/
My wife also love me forever. Mothers day is not needed in the process of loving one another.
