Stomach noises- such as growling, rumbling, and gurgling is due to normal digestion. tomach growling can occur when your are hungry, But it can also occur after eating and or between meals when food is passing thru the intestines.

Hunger and appetite is controlled by a complex system of hormone-like substances produced by your digestive system. When you haven't eaten for awhile, these substances are released and reaches the part of your brain, the hypothalamus ; which "switches" on the desire to eat. This message is then sent to the stomach and intestines which prepare the digestive juices- which causes the grumbling and rumbling sounds you hear- as your body prepares you to eat. Sometimes, the thought, smell and sight of the food can also trigger this response from the intestines.

Sometimes, excessive stomach noise is a symptom of other underlying gastrointestional disorder such as IBS or irritable bowel syndrome. However, these stomach noises are usually accompanied by other signs and symptoms of bloating or fullness, cramping; diarrhea or excess gas.

As you also have sweaty palms even when you are not nervous, in most likelihood, you have IBS.

IBS can be controlled by diet rich in soluble fiber ; supplements;such as prebiotic ; avoid carbonated drinks, coffee, etc. choosing what to eat and how to eat; ; stress management thru yoga, exercise, acupuncture; and prescribed meds such as Zantac, Prilosec, etc.

I'm guessing that it's just the sounds of digestion. Is it in your stomach, or your intestines? Either that, or there's a build up of gas. (perhaps someone else has a more intelligent answer)

About your doctor--you know yourself best. Consider whether or not you have other things in mind, like unfinished homework, or a stressful project for work. However, whether you are nervous or not is not up to your doctor to decide, as they can not just open up your brain and see what you're thinking.
