Probably not long term. But if she is the girl your wanting to marry, ask her out. Maybe it will work, maybe it wont. But if she goes out with you and later is ready to settle down than she might think about you and you might be able to relight the flame.
Who knows, but do take into consideration that you sister might be upset.

I really dont think that age has anything to do with it - you guys are both old enough to make up your own minds, you're both adults who can make your own decisions. Possibly your only problem will be that if she is going to college, she'll be in an environment where she is surrounded by new people that she meets, and having a boyfriend that she's not really sure about will be very constricting. UNLESS you talk to her now, meaning that you'll be able to make and stablise a relationship with her before she goes off to college. That way she'll have no misgivings about your relationship. So basically, go for it!! If it doesnt work out, then too bad, but at least you will have tried. So many good things could come from it!!

I'm not saying it could not work out because the matters of the heart are often unexplainable however, I do think that your age differences might be an issue. If she is ready to go off to college, she will be in an environment where she will meet and possible date other young men her own age - and if you have not had any kind of communication with her on a regular basis, she might not even be thinking of you as a possible "relationship". Look to women who are closer to your own age -

If she is 18 then I think it is okay... but in a way she is still 7 years younger...so like when shes 21 and finally able to go to the bars and everything you're going to be 28 and ready to settle more (I would think...) but if you arent looking into anything serious with her and you just want something casual then go for it. just be careful if she is still in high school/entering college... shes in a totally different part of her life than you...

You should go to her father and seek his approval. This would show the girl that you have respect for her and her family. This would make her family more comfortable with you and the age difference between you.

It could work out but you need to ask her out first.
