Depends on the woman. I am sure there are more women who are not and never have been recognized as doormats. I hope you get to meet some of those. For all the work and strides women have made in the world, I would hardly call us 'doormats'. No man will ever walk over me.

If you view all women in general as this way, then you need help. Perhaps you grew up in an abusive family environment where your dad/stepdad/etc beat your mother and that's where you got this idea. Read up on Axl Rose...that kinda family stuff resulted in him having this same distorted view of women. And if you haven't had family situations or other childhood memories to base your views on, then perhaps you're just a plain ******, in which case you still need help.
Now if you're asking this NOT because you want to think this about women, but because a lot of the women you know seem to act in self-respectless ways, then that's a different story. Perhaps you are asking why women allow themselves to be treated as doormats, when perhaps they are capable of better? In that case, then I have a few answers for you. The most obvious answer is lack of confidence and self-esteem. With that lack of self-esteem, a girl might feel desperate to keep a boyfriend/significant other constantly around, so she will allow herself to be used as a doormat in hopes that her over-niceness will convince her boyfriend to stay with her. Or, perhaps she was raised in an abusive family environment and saw her mother or other female relatives being treated like doormats...in which case, she doesn't know any better and she would need counselling/help.
Another reason to explain why some girls act like doormats can be blamed on society in general. For centuries, women were raised by society to be meek, humble, and submissive. They were raised to submit to their husbands and accept lowly domestic roles with no hopes of advancing their "jobs" or obtaining a formal education. Although womens' rights have fortunately come a long way, there STILL lingers the societal "expectations" that women submit to men, hang onto mens' every word, and be nothing but quiet and agreeable. You know what I say to that? SCREW THAT!!!!! I'd rather be loud, independent, and ambitious...and stand up for myself.

what is wrong with your thinking patterns? did you grow up thinking that men are in charge? are you too proud to ask for directions? if it weren't for your mom sacrificing everything for you, you wouldn't be here right now, ever think of that? how come all the male leaders of the countries always screw things up, and never the females? get rid of your current beliefs of women and start to realize the truth: men are completely under the woman's hand, not the reverse

because society has taught her to honor and take care of her husband/bf and to do whatever to make him happy and avoid arguments and take care of him like he is a child- and that she should stay home and have many of his kids to overpopulate the world. And if you don't cater to a man in this way you may not find another that is 'just as good'. And then she wonders why she is not happy, and he wonders why she has little explosions of resentment towards him all the time.
