No, it won't recover. People often believe doing brain exercises will improve short-term memory loss, but they don't; the memory is not a muscle.
Patients are taught compensatory strategies to adapt to the loss of memory, such as having notepads around the house and in one's pocket. I recommend one next to the phone, next to the bed, by the computer, and one by the TV. Blackberries or PDAs can help, too.

I think you should start by seeing a doctor. To be evaluated for any signs of say a "stroke", or some other injury the drugs may have done. There is also the possiblity of "depression", which many people rule out because they think depression is all about feeling "sad", and that is simply not true.
I am not sure about "reversing" memory loss, but there are mental excerises you can do as well. Learning a new skill helps.
The herbal remedy "ginko" helps also. It does this by increasing the amount of oxygen in the blood and is reputed to help those with respiratory ailments. More oxygen in the blood..more oxygen to the brain...
I wish you luck my man............peace.

i know what you are saying m8 , been there . 11 years to be exact , blues , brown mostly . i"ve found myself going upstairs to get something , opened the door , stood thinking for 5 mins and come back down totally brain dead ! after a couple of years things have improved a lot, but to be honest with you most people experience this sometimes anyway , so don't get too worried. you"ve probably got a counsellor anyway ? if not get one . I thought i did"nt need one but helped me a lot , anyway m8 , see what help is out there , and any concerns they will point you in the right direction ,and don't worry too much , take it easy , good luck.

Talk to a naturopathic doctor about this.
You can repair tissue through changing your diet and using certain herbal suppliments.
A good naturopathic doctor can give you the information you need.
Live from this day forward, and work on getting maximum health, as you get healthier, your mind will function better.
You may not ever get all of your memory back, but what is past is history.
Perhaps a hypnotist can help you with some memory you have repressed, if it is important for you to remember some specific event.

See your doctor or mental health professional about drug rehab.

Some of this function may be recoverable, but some of the damage is, unfortunately, permanent.

Think about volunteering to relate your story in schools and stuff--you might be damaged, but you're also a good example of why not to get into the stuff!

Just stop using the drugs as a first step. Then exercise your memory by doing puzzles, learning new skills, reading fiction (where imagination is required). It is unlikely to be permanent and more likey that you are just very "unconscious" at the moment.

I keep getting notified that someone has left a message in my 360. Bleh. I got 12 emails today saying I received new messages, but they are old ones. Yahoo can kiss my soft and wonderful ***.

Similar story to me. Functions like this may return, but there may be damage to brain bits that need investigating further. Mental disorders like depression can sometimes contribute.

See your doctor.

If your spelling is any indication of your brain function...there is a problem (spell check)

Seriously, Brain function has much to do with healthy or destroyed brain cells. Once they are dead, you can't get them back, and the functions that go to the dead cells are grossly impaired.
If you truly want to work toward regaining your abilities and memories - see a psychologist - they specialize in brain function and may or may not be able to assist you.
