I think that it is an awesome idea. The next time my children, grandchildren and other relatives descend I think I will use your idea.
You should submit your revolutionary ideat to hints from Heloise.
My kinda man--- an inovative thinker!!!

Depending on who the guests are I'd say very rude. It gives the impression that the guests are being a burden on you and you don't want to go through the trouble even though you were the one who invited them. Anyone can make time to wash the dishes. I mean if you're getting desert ready ask someone if they wanna help you in the kitchen so you can talk and work together. Let them set up the coffee and you can wash the dishes. Or just leave the dishes for later. They're not going anywhere.

HELL YEAH!!!! How do I know if that plate is really clean or not! That is down right nasty and lazy! If you do that with your dishes then I can imagine what the rest of your place looks like. You don't have to worry about me eating at your place EVER!!!!!! If your asking then that means you don't have to much company over for dinner. But do you blame them???? And when your buying the food for dinner go three aisles over and get some paper goods!! You just might have more dinner parties.

I'm sure your guests would not mind delaying the meal for a few minutes so they can eat on clean plates. If you have time to make a nice dinner for people, then you have time to wash the plates.

Wrapping plates in foil will take longer than washing them.
It's not a good idea to wrap dirty dishes in foil, as the foil will break when used and the new food will spill into the dirty dish.
If you're really in a pinch for time, just have your guest wash their own plate!

Washing plates takes a few minutes only, so the tinfoil is pure insult to your guests.

I would think if you have time to ask the question, you have time to wash the plate?
I wouldn't dream of serving my guests from a dirty plate covered in foil--gross!

Yes, It's rude.
Don't have Dinnerguests, if you cannot be a good Host.
If you can spend so much time online to check all the answers on your question, you might as well go wash the dishes??..

Not if the fly-screen on your caravan is intact, Bubba.
A quick wash and rinse, 15 secs max, would see them superficially clean up enough to serve upon, surely?
Yes, it damn well is not rude, depending on their sensibilities, but it is crude, for sure.
Or are you speaking of your guests? Do they appreciate being given a bath before eating?

It is faster to wash plates than it is to cover them with tinfoil.
