Ok so I've had my cat since december, and she has not been fixed, so obviously I know what it's like when she goes into heat .. she also likes me a little more than hubby. So today I layed on my bed she came to lay with me, then hubby layed down - with the cat in the middle, she was purring and wanting us to rub her belly and she was very content .. when we got up to do laundry she was meowing like hell at ME, naturally I thought she wanted more attention but I mean shes following me EVERYWHERE and MEOWING 24/7 for the whole day, She has a full food bowl, fresh water and clean litter - I tried to check for bruising or any signs that she is hurt and she's not giving me any, nor does she seem to be in heat. If I lay back on the bed with her she'll stop, if I even move an arm or leg she'll cry again. I can't be on the bed 24/7, what can be wrong with her! She's NEVER done this before and we lay on the bed with her all the time!

ha ha ha ha... I'm sorry, but I do beleive your very spoilt kitty has discovered the way to manipulate you. Seriously, attention seeking behavior is a learnt behavior - whether it is in cats or kids or dogs or whatever. You kitty has discovered that meowing and meowing will get instant compliance from you. What you need to do is IGNORE the attention seeking antics of your kitten for the present. Once you are sure that there is absolutely nothing wrong with her, you can safely treat with the big IGNORE. It will be nerve-wracking for the first day, but beleive me, cats learn very quickly. Once the kitten sees that meowing for nothing won't achieve attention from you, but BEING QUIET will, SHE will be the one who complies.
When my cats want my attention, they sit in front of me and look at me - they ever rarely meow. Most of the time, when I am busy, they are satisfied with a pet and a tickle under the chin and an odd toy thrown for them to chase. When I am sleeping, they are happy to just culr up with me in bed.

I have a cat of my own, I know the feeling. Your cat just wants love. I know laying on the bed shows it, but one trick is to pick her up and pet her in your arms while you are in other rooms of the home. Believe me, it works. Hug her periodically, and almost every time you see her, at least rub her on her head some. With the love given, your can will relax more. She just needs assurance that you love her.

The best thing for you to do would be to go ahead and get her fixed first. If she is still real clingy with you, I would say enjoy it. Cats are not the most attentive animals and don't often like to be petted or smothered. They are very independent. My cat was like that for the first year of his life and now that he's getting ready to turn two he's just fine. He goes off and does his own thing and when he wants to be petted he comes to us.

Although more common with dogs, she obviously has abandonment issues. Consult your healthcare professional and also a cat trainer. You don't know what her previous life was like. She may have been abused or abandoned or neglected. Have some compassion and you will have to work with her on this. It will take some time.

Welcome to the world of cats! It sounds like your cat has learnt just how to manipulate you. I had a Burmese who did that. As soon as I got hm, as a kitten, he cried non stop if I wasn't with him, and I used to carry him around in a bag, slung over my shoulder, until he was old enough to lie draped over my shoulder. This carried on to the day of his death, at the age of 22, just 4 days ago. My Maine Coon is just as manipulative, and wakes me up every morning at 4.30, by screaming her head off. I then have to get up, and play with her food. Once the lights are on, and I am fully awake, she is satisfied. Ignore the little Prima Donna if you can, and she will stop, or, like me, you will truly be a slave to your cats whims. ( Just as they want you to be!). Mine also only pick on me, and although they are fond of my husband, don't go and bug him. I think they know we are the suckers they need. I do hope you can get her out of this, because it can get VERY annoying at times. Good Luck

from the sounds of it she wants your attention, she likes the way you rub her and she wants more of it. she isn't getting any attention anywhere else so she will come to you. You can give her the attention but also don't let her know that she can not get her way all the time.

Cats are VERY social animals. You might want to consider getting her a friend (second kitty). Get them BOTH fixed.

Have her fixed, first of all. If the problem persists after that, I would suggest bringing her to the vet and having her checked out.
