It makes no difference on the size of the dog to the name. Pick something you like. It is smart to keep their names to one syllable, it is easy for then to learn. Of course longer names can be shortened to a nick name, Maximillien can be Max, Snoopy can be Snoop and so forth.

Michelle,

We got two out of three the same. I have a Bear, a 20 lb Rat Terrier. Snoopy, a Beagle of course. My other is a Pit named Honey.

I love naming my pets with human names, like "Bill" or "Peter." Name him after your favourite TV show character or musician.

I suggest you name your puppy "Steve."
