I started off feeding my bordeaux science diet and was told by the manager at petco to switch to biljac. He seemed to have good knowledge on a good diet for a mastiff since he had an english mastiff and this is what he is feeding his. My bordeaux seems to like his biljac and has good stool but it has by products in it and i was always told thats a no no, but then he went off on how these dogs in australia are eating straight chickens parts which is the by product in bil jac and they live to be 30 years old. now that i have done more research i have seen that solid gold and innova are maybe the way i should go. So if you could please give me any help it would be appreciated. what i am looking for in the dog food is a nice soft shiny coat, good health, nice lean muscular body, and a good taste. thank you.

Here are a few that are good: Solid Gold, Wellness, Canidae, Timberwolf Organics, Innova, and Artemis Fresh Mix, there are several more but these are really good. They may be a bit pricey initially but they come out cheaper because you feed less. These are 100% human grade dog food with NO corn, wheat, soy, grain fractions, fillers or by products – and naturally preserved.

The link I have provided sells dog food online but you can also look up the ingredients (on this site) to any of the ones I have listed plus any other dog foods you may be interested in, they have many brands listed.
The best thing you can do is research the different brands. Meat should be the first ingredient and the foods should NOT contain corn, wheat, soy, beef or by-products and it should also be made from human grade ingredients.

I have had 5 Dogue De Bordeaux. I do not feel a puppy can go that long without needing a break, have you thought about a pet sitter to come in a few times a day to break the puppy. If you try leaving the puppy that long you are setting it up to fail. Puppies get very bored even when they are large breeds like the DDB and need lots of toys and things to keep them busy. I had a liter of 6, they go like crazy and then nap and then it starts all over again. They also should be socialized starting from a young age (once there shots are all done). As for the drooling it depends on the dogue. Out og my 5, three of them where big droolers and 2 hardly ever drool even when eating and drinking. I personally do not feel they are hard to train, they are very smart and will do anything to please you. If you have any questions I will be more than happy to answer you questions. Be sure to demand the breeder has health cert. for both parents and they have passed all the health tests. Best of Luck Also if you go to the DDBSA web site they can always answer questions. Be advised a Bordeaux is not a cheap breed, they have many health issues and will require alot of vet visits so I advise you to get health insurance. Make sure you get a policy that covers genetic issues as some don't.

There are a few real keys to dog training, whether you are trying to train your dog to come when called, sit, stop barking or any other behavior. Understanding their importance is critical to achieving rapid results that are long lasting and help develop the bond between you and your dog. Read more here https://bitly.im/LPM1g
The first is simple; you must win your dogs mind. If you don’t achieve this first then you will be struggling the all the way. When I talk about winning your dogs mind what I really mean is that your dog looks to you for all the decisions. Before you do anything else watch one of the amazing video sites that show you the 5 Golden rules to establishing yourself as the pack leader. If you aren’t putting these in place then you are setting yourself up to fail. Just at the crucial point where you really want your dog to listen they will go and do their own thing. For sure your dog may play ball occasionally or even most of the time, you may even have a dog that is obedient 99% of the time, however if you want a dog who always listens to you and does as you ask then you need to win your dogs mind.
The second key to success is to motivate your dog. It is really important that you discover what it is that your dog enjoys both in terms of exercise and play but also in terms of a reward. If you can make the experience enjoyable then you will both achieve more and look forward to training.
Some dogs love to fetch, others love agility, and other dogs simply love obedience training, or swimming out into water and retrieve. At least to start with find out what your dogs love is and help them develop this, what I am saying is work with your dog. The other point to recognize is to make training enjoyable reward your dog.

The owner of the dog needs to know how to "operate" the dog, same way you can get into a car that's in perfect running order but if you don't know how to drive you won't have much luck making the car go anywhere. If the owner doesn't know how to maintain the training, the dog will soon become untrained again. Read more here https://tinyurl.im/IZf5v
People seem to think that once a dog is trained, that's it. Not true. You must reinforce the dog's training every single day in some way. It's best if the owner and the dog go together to get trained. As a professional trainer once said to me "We can train any dog in 2 days. It takes longer to train the owners

Innova Evo is certainly a very good commercial food. I use it when I can't feed raw.
Evo comes the closest you can get to the diet a dog would naturally eat. You know what they ate before kibble was invented just 50-60 years ago.

I suggest the Fish and Chips or Lamb Millet and Rice from Flint River Ranch. You feed 20-40% less than other foods, there are no by products, animal digest, sugars, added colors, flavorings, or dangerous preservatives. These two formulas are also wheat, chicken, and corn free.
I feed and highly recommend the Fish and Chips formula!
