That, would be a question to ask the Dr.
Depression comes in such varying degrees, from fully functional, just feeling down, to grief, to a total inability to reason, speak, care for themselves including eating and bathing and dressing, and the inability to make any decision what so ever with a mind that is not connected to the here and now.

There are degrees. As well as you were able to word your question, it is unlikely that you are disabled in most of your functions.

They would only be considered Disabled if medication did nothing to help. Depression in most cases can be helped with meds. If you can't function in today's society with or without meds. than possibly you can get labeled as disabled but be prepared to be locked up as a danger to yourself or others!!!! until you have been evaluated!! Good Luck!!! With a Physicians help you should be able to find the right combination of drugs. Beware of anti phycotic drugs they have some bad side affects. Try going to your nearest pharmacy the pharmacist should be able to answer any questions you may have!!!! Once you find the meds. that work for you stay on them so you can live a long and Happier life!!!!!! Once again I wish you all the Luck in the World!!!

Does it interfere with your day to day life? Can you hold down a job? Can you take care of yourself and others? These are all determining factors of disability. If you can't keep a jo because of mental issues, thn I would say you have a disability.

I'm on disability for depression, bi-polar and anxiety. What fun huh? I've had them since I was a kid. I applied for disability when I could no longer work without it causing me huge panic attacks.
