The featers on top of her head and around her beak are turning a yellowish color. They just started doing this yesterday, what is wrong with her? Also the feathers on her stomach look like they have been parted down the middle, it's like a straight line. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHATS WRONG WITH MY BIRDIE?!?!?

Well, the line going down the stomach means that your bird has lost weight. It may be a good idea to weigh her. 30-40 grams is a good place to aim for. Parakeets need 2 teaspoons of seed a day, plus fruits and veggies.

The yellow head could be an age thing, does she have a yellow face as well, and has her face been yellow since you got her? If her head looks more like it's dirty, do you have a yellow mineral block or cuttlebone? Or perhaps seeds or pellets that are colored yellow? It could just be a stain from those.

You have parakeets, a good website for parakeet care and just to ask questions is www.xoparrots.com

there is honestly no longer something incorrect along with her. She's in simple terms turning out to be a clean set of feathers. The little situations the feathers are rolled up in is made up of "keratin", truly the comparable fabric as your fingernails. those poke in the process the exterior, and since the feather develops, the feathers case breaks open unleashing the hot feather. Your birds are in simple terms eye-catching! do no longer hassle approximately it, that's common. you're able to be able to word some greater effective dirt on your place by keratin blowing around everywhere, and it truly is beneficial to circulate somewhat heavier on the calcium and protein of their diets to help with feather production.

Molting! My grandma had a beautifully colored parrot. Withing 3 months of having it it had gray and yellow feathers running all over the patterns in his feathers. For some reason he never finished molting but most birds do.

If your parakeet is an older bird, say over four years old, it could be a sign of old age.

It could be some die from maybe an additive you placed in the drinking water.

Just two guesses as to what this may be.

Are you putting vitamins in the drinking water? If so, your bird is probably putting it's head in the water cup. Get a little bird bath, parakeets love them.
