Junior has a few friends on that team that asked him to drive the 5 for the last few laps of the race. Junior was not going to turn down the opportunity to help out his friends. He has a big heart for his friends. I think that this was a gesture to show Kyle that he was not upset for being wrecked by him. Those cars do NOT have brake lights. When there is a lot of smoke and a car ahead that braked hard like Junior did, it is hard to react quickly enough to avoid the slowed car ahead of you. Braking hard is usually the last resort cause if you do this..you will get hit in the back. These guys are RACING which means that they are giving everything they've got to pass the others ahead of them. They are reluctant to slow down for anything. They would rather steer out of trouble to avoid the accident and retain their spot in line. Kyle was real upset that he had hit Junior and told the crew to load it up. He thought that he was done for the day and probably didn't want to talk about it. That was total class finishing that race for Kyle. Junior has matured greatly after loosing his pit crew and then getting them back. He has realized that this is a team sport and much like Tony Stewart has cooled his hot head quite a bit. I don't think that Junior was wanting to just try the Hendricks ride because this was a wounded car that would not give him a good sample of the Hendricks package.

He didn't lose 7 positions BECAUSE he hopped in the 5 car, he had already lost those before that. Wow, what a show of sportsmanship on Jr's part. He is buddies with a couple of the guys on Kyle's crew so they asked him if he would finish the race for them. He asked Tony Eury Jr and got the O.K. Jr said he was honored they would ask him. By doing that the 5 car finished 2 laps ahead of Jimmie Johnson so they saved 3 points. Maybe Jr was auditioning for if the contract negotiations don't go well. Once you get a taste of Hendrick horsepower it's got to be hard to go back to junk equipment.

Well Casey Mears isn't getting it done in the 25 car. Maybe this was a test run (like he needs one.) Budweiser was with Hendricks Motorsports for a time and so it wouldn't suprise me to see #25 Budweiser car next season.

Junior has already proven he is a team player and with a teammates like Jeff Gordon, Jimmy Johnson, and Kyle Busch; it would make Hendricks domination of NASCAR even more dominating.

DEI has shown it lacks what Junior needs to obtain a Championship. Hendricks has the equipment and two Championship Drivers who can help him finally achieve a Championship that has so eluded him.

Also, I think Junior needs to step completely out of the shadow of his Father and be his own man. Hendricks would be the perfect place to do just that. Going to RCR would only place him further in his Father's shadow.

I think it was classy of Jr. but I just think if a driver can't or won't finish the race, for whatever reason, that should be the end of it. Kyle should not have left the track until it was determined the car was unable to be repaired.

I too believe he was hoping to see what the set-up is at HMS.

At perhaps the most crucial crossroads of his driving career in which he's negotiating partial ownership of the team his father created, Dale Earnhardt Jr. got a taste of what it's like to drive for the competition on Sunday when he finished the final nine laps in a Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet.

"Don't even worry about it, load it up," Busch radioed to his team. But nobody listened. Busch took his car to the garage, got out and disappeared while the crew went to work immediately on what looked to be an unfixable car.

Eight laps later, the No. 5 crew had put all the pieces together to get the car back on track. All but one.

"We ain't got no driver," a crewman said over the radio.

Team members from the No. 5 searched for Busch but never found him. That's when jackman Rick Pigeon approached his buddy Earnhardt and asked if he would finish the race in the 5 car. Earnhardt asked crew chief Tony Eury Jr. about the situation. Eury gave the go-ahead, and Earnhardt got in the car to finish the final nine laps of the race.

"Pig [Pigeon] is my buddy, and I have a couple other friends on this team," Earnhardt said. "They asked me to do it so I wasn't going to say no."

"It was a miscommunication between the team and Kyle," said Busch's crew chief, Alan Gustafson. "He thought they weren't going to go back out so he left. There were a few laps left, they knew they could gain a position and gain three valuable points.

"So they asked Dale Jr. to fill in. Junior didn't hesitate and agreed and it was a very sportsmanlike gesture and it says a lot about Dale Jr. and the kind of person he is."

I think that Junior did it for Rick Hendrick, not for Kyle Busch. Rick Hendrick assisted Kelley Earnhardt Elledge in finding the best doctors to treat her aggressive tumor recently, and I think that Kelley is the most important person in Dale Jr.'s life.

Kyle left the track before the race was over because he didn't think the car would get back on the track. A friend of Jr.'s on Busch's crew asked him to drive and he did. That was just an awesome thing for him to do!

"Kyle wouldn't even apologize to Dale Jr nor his own team for causing that wreck that took out him and Dale Jr?"

Whoever said this must not have been watching the race. Kyle did dot cause the accident. There was so much smoke he could not see Jr .check up in front of him. Stewart was the one spinning out in front of them.

THe only Hendrick car that had the new motor was Casey Mears in the 25.

Jr is just a class guy. He wants to race. Who knows why Kyle just left and went home though? Seems like a quiter.
