Because we carry around our sin nature as long as we are on the earth. We don't have to allow it to master us, however. We do have the ability to say "no" to sin.
As it is written: "No temptation has overtaken you that is unusual for human beings. But God is faithful, and he will not allow you to be tempted beyond your strength. Instead, along with the temptation he will also provide a way out, so that you may be able to endure it." (I Corinthians 10:13)
Trouble is, we often like our sin. Sad, but true.

What's sin except teh foibles of human nature? Each of us has an instinct for self preservation. This causes us to do some things that might be otherwise go against the letter of some law.
Jesus himself showed that the law is somewhat subject to interpretation when he heale on the sabbath. He knew that all sin at times, and demonstrated this knowledge when he said "let he who is without sin cast the first stone".
Sin is merely the acknowledgement that one has gone against the letter of the law.

because of the original sin. it's passed down through the generations (like a gene almost). The OS (original sin) stops people from being perfect, therefor making it impossible to stop sinning.

We humans were born to sin and came into
this world as a sinner
And all the reasons for Jesus
to die on a cross
at Calvary to take away our dirty sins
The Lord Jesus bore all of our sins before he died

While we do not have a Bible verse that specifically states we commit a sinful act each day, we do have verses that remind us that we have inherited the capacity to sin at any moment. "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned" (Romans 5:12). "Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me" (Psalms 51:5). or, "Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me" (Psalms 51:5).

We're very fond of pleasures, honors, and comfort.
Everything else is a means to these ends, and we'll stop at nothing to attain them.
I say "we" meaning the human race.

Paul says our old nature is stronger than our new nature, now, but it won't be.We need to try to let Christ live through us and we will have victory, even if we do sin from time to time.I John 1 :5 ,"He is faithful and just to forgive us..."

Some say: It is not that big of a sin...
Some say: I am addicted and can't quit...
Some say: I will stop right before I die...
Some say: I wish I had been better...
Some say: Please Lord, help me to overcome my weaknesses.
