Ativan will make you really relaxed. Be sure to have someone available to drive you home. If I had as many questions about this procedure as you do, I would definitely ask my dentist. You should always know what is being done to you ahead of time. If you don't understand the procedure, ask questions until you do. This is very important.

First of all, ativan is the same general medicine as Valium. It will help reduce any anxiety that you might have about the procedure. In other words, you are still going to have the procedure, but you won't care.

When you have a tooth pulled it actually leaves a hole in your jaw bone. He will place "Bone Morphagenic Protein" , artificial bone where he pulled the teeth. That way, weather you have false teeth, implants, or bridge work done, there will be solid jaw bone underneath for support.

Ativan is often used as a sleep aid. It will relax you. As for the pain, ask the dentist about prescribing medication to take after the procedure, and follow all of his instructions carefully.

Ativan is a benzodiazepine drug similar to valium. It will calm you down. It is a very safe drug if used occasionally so taking a one off dose will not cause you any side effects. The only problems are if you take it regularly which is not what you are going to do. You will be fine. He should anethetise your gums put you out with anesthetic so you shouldn't feel any pain during the proceedure. You will do fine.
