my friend told me that her bf forced her to have sex. But I found out from a friend that she had consented, but when they were in the process of having sex she said to stop but he refused. is that still rape?

Yes it is rape and here is why:

Your friend was the one that told you HER boyfriend forced HER to have sex.

You heard from a "third party" that she consented (not from her).

When a woman or a man says "NO", that means "NO" and the sex should have stopped right there.

Since it did not stop, he is guilty of raping her which now is considered "sexual assault".

Well it certainly sounds like rape. Consent at the beginning does not mean consent all the way through. However in saying that......and I know this will make me sound like a perv but it has to be said.....I've known a few girls who, for reasons I won't go into, actually got off from telling the guy to stop it and fantasize he was forcing her. If it was NOT a situation like that then YES it was rape.

As DEKE stated, it is sexual assault at the minimum. In some countries and states it would be called "date rape". Once a person says NO, even after initial consent, it becomes rape.
The definition of 'rape' varies from country to country, and from culture to culture, but what you stated, is definitely rape.

If she consented to the sex than he didnt force her BUT, the minute a woman says STOP, the man is supposed to stop because he is now taking her by FORCE. Major controversy here. Tell your girlfriend to please be careful. Next time she could end up dead.

yes, if somebody decides that they don't feel that it is the right time to have sex but their partner forces them it is still considered rape. But be careful, if you take it to court they might need witnesses to confirm that later she said no and refused.

even though is was conseted to begin with but when in the process she didn't want to to go ahead with it he should have had the decency to stop. If he had respect for her and loved her then he would have done what she wanted. It would be casified as asult, but that is up to her if she wants to press charges or what not.

She'd have a hard time getting him convicted of it, but I'd reccommend her breaking up with him.

Someone who doesn't respect your wishes in the bedroom is not someone that you want to have a relationship with. You can tell that to your friend, but it really is hard to get through to people sometimes. Respect her and let her know she has your support.

If either person says "stop" sex needs to "stop." So it does count as rape.

based on how you described this situation, it sounds like your friend is lying...some young girls do silly things like pretend they are raped or pretend to be pregnant just so they can get attention...however, if you can confirm and solidify facts that she WAS in fact raped, then you should advise your friend to go to the cops and get some counseling from a psychiatrist
