This isn't the typically dog with his tounge out. Just the tip of it, sometimes a little more pokes out of his mouth and will just sit there. This even happens when he is sleeping. It's really cute, I'm just worried it might me some sort of brain damage/mental issue.

It could mean absolutely nothing and just be a little idiosyncrasy your dog has. I have had 4 yorkies in my lifetime and currently have two. My little Belle has just the tip of her tongue sticking out most of the time. My vet said it is just her "way". There is absolutely nothing wrong with her. I personally find it adorable.

BTW, the tongue sticking out is a common trait in chihuahuas from what I have been told and from what I have read. If you are worried about it, ask your vet during the next routine visit.

well it can be one of two things; i do know that sometimes when dogs keep their tongues hanging out it means that they are dehydrated and need more water. another thing is that it could be they are missing teeth. my dog is missing a couple of her teeth and her tongue sticks out bc there's nothing in there to hold her tongue in. make sure he's getting plenty of fresh water and receives a lot of nutrients
