Seed orientation should not make a noticeable difference. The hormones in plants make the root system grow toward gravity and the shoot system grow away from gravity. You can easily see this if you sandwich some seeds between wet paper towels and sprout them - place the seeds in different orientations (right side up, upside down, sideways). Staple the wet paper towels inside a plastic bag and tape the bag to a vertical surface.

Seed orientation can affect how quickly many types of seeds germinate but the effect is not huge.
