Several years ago, I was working with a woman who claimed that she was not a Christian because she was an independent thinker and Christians were like sheep, always being told what to think and believe. When I asked her a few basic questions about her own beliefs (why we're here, how the world began, etc.), she replied to each question, "I wish my professor were here. He would know the answer to that question." Of course, I pointed out (and she recognized) that she was doing the precise thing she was criticizing Christians of doing -- looking to another to tell her what to think and how to believe.
When non-Christians hear the word "faith", they often assume that it is some strange anti-intellectual concept. In reality, all human beings practice faith every day. If you don't have faith in the roof of a building you're in, you'll leave the building before it collapses. Valid faith is based on evidence and facts. We trust Christ because we know him based on what the Bible says.
Christians should glorify God through their minds; they should never turn off their minds. Non-Christians should make sure they know the facts on which Christian beliefs are based or they themselves will be guilty of criticizing out of ignorance.

I wish you would have have explained what you think they are ignorant about. I understand some of the Christian ignorance. For instance If Jesus is the only way to heaven, what happened to the thousands of righteous people who died before Jesus was born and according to their religion went to heaven before God decided to have children? All of a sudden a new religion (Christianity) comes along and says. "We now own Heaven and are making the rules". Are all previous religious beliefs worthless because Christianity says so? Want more examples of ignorance? How did Noah gather 2 Polar Bears for the Arc when he didn't know that they existed?

If you have faith, you see.
If you do not have faith, you do not see.
So a person without faith looks at a person with faith and says, he is nuts.
No understanding no sight.
I was not born a Christian.
I looked at them and didn't understand.
Now I am a Christian and I understand.
How then can you expect anyone to understand if they don't have faith?
You are not thinking correctly.
You are forgetting where you came from.
How shall you point the finger in accusation---it is not correct.
There are people that will give you a bad time.
They will push the envelope and sometimes make you angry.
You will react because you are human. The emotions are still there.
Can you imagine no emotions?
Like dead.

Since ignorance is merely a lack of knowledge, then all of us are ignorant of one thing or another. When it comes to religion, most of us are ignorant of what other people may or may not believe. For any of us to judge everybody else based solely upon our own perception of things, filtered through our own foundation of knowledge, is in itself ignorant. We cannot tell anybody else they are ignorant of us when we are ourselves ignorant of them. All I can do is testify to that which I know or profess to be true and let others decide for themselves whether or not they agree.
It is disturbing when people try to tell me what I believe when I know for a fact that what they are claiming to be so, simply is not so.
I wrote a paper in my undergraduate work criticizing an author claiming to know what my church was all about. I thoroughly ridiculed his opinions and concluded that if anybody wanted to learn about my church, they should ask a member of it not some scholar who is affiliated with some other faith.
Yes, critics are themselves ignorant of many things, often those things they claim to know about.

Especially ignorant since many of those claiming to be christians are in fact not even close to being christian.
Too many confuse the defination with 'belief in god'.
Ie; too many think that 'belief in GOD' is CHRISTIAN faith.
NOPE>... I beleive in a godlike possibility but totally reject the bible as factual since I can (and most can) personally view some of the events as factually wrong in history.
Much of the bible is actually condtradictory within itself but even more so when compared to later versions of it (such as KJ versus NIV).

Not necessarily.
The problem with people that say Christians are ignorant are not spirit-filled.
So, they really just don't know what to do with people who have knowledge different from their own.
Also, "Ignorant" merely means that a person is untaught. So, there's still hope!

There are ignorant people in every faith and in all walks of life. Some Christians are stupid and believe in the wrong things and some unbelievers are ignorant to issue's too.

I suppose so. I believe some Christians are ignorant, but at the same time I understand why they do what they do.
(I mean the crazy ones, not the regular ones who don't bug anybody else)

Maybe.... or we may be scared that we'll be identified with the fanatical fringe & cringe at what 'card-carrying Christians' do in the name of religion. Try not to judge a religion or race on the actions of a few crazies. Hope this helps you to understand our mindset. Take care! :-)
