The sensationalized headline is used to grab attention.
The article portrays the many facetted face of Evangelicals in the USA. As the article states, we are not all gun toting Bible thumpers.

But the article also cites Rick Warren's followers at the Saddleback Church. Pastor Warren is leading a movement that he overtly describes as Christian, but it actually incorporates beliefs of many faiths, including Eastern Mysticism. It is recognized by the term
"The Emerging Church Movement."

Biblical Evangelicals will draw the line at defiling their faith with beliefs of other faith systems. Once again, the article just talks about the many facets of Christianity.

I'm not an evangelical, but if I were, I think I'd be pretty angry at the tactics being used in this article, which is obviously an attempt to cast some serious mud at James Dobson, while making Rick Warren look like the holy of holies.
It is bad politics, from beginning to end.
