TUESDAY APRIL 17th 2007 at 11:59pm
Sunday the 15th is a weekend. Monday the 16th is Emancipation Day in Washington DC and the IRS is closed and changed the deadline after the forms were printed. It's also a legal holiday in New England (Patrtiot's Day).

Geez, I don't know how all of the first three responders managed to give wrong answers on such a simple question when the answer has been well-publicized, The deadline this year is Tuesday April 17. Check the IRS website if you want confirmation.

Monday the 16th, since the 15th was on Sunday.
Edit: I just read a similar question and all the answers were saying Tuesday the 17th. I know you definitely have Monday, double check with a news channel or call IRS tomorrow if you need to take Tuesday also.

your taxreturn has to be postmarked by the 16th of april since the 15th was a sunday.
most postoffices will stay open late and any mail dropped before midnight will be postmarked the 16th of april, therefore sufficient for filing purposes.
