A lot of people say that we look down on them because of their religion or their way of life. So what do you do when you find out someone is polytheistic, or maybe that they're atheist? It doesn't matter. A lot of people are saying we're arrogant and stuck-up. I want oth sides of the spectrum, which means I don't want pious answers I want the truth. No judging here, just want your opinions and input.

Frankly, I don't care what other people's religions are. I don't care about their sexual preferences either. These are private things and are none of my business. I don't pick my friends because of what church they do or don't go to. I pick them because I have something in common with them and they're fun to be around. I have Christian friends and non-Christian friends. They are all good people. I can only try to make a good example of my own life.

well i go to a very religious school and i'm not religious. I've never had anyone here try to force their religion on me at all. But the one thing that annoys me is their reason for their beliefs. or thoughts. it's always the bible says this or the bible says that. And most time I just look at them and think "so you got pretty smashed at that party last night" I'm sure the bibles not for that. However no one has tried to really force what they think on me most times they just make their beliefs known and I'll say mine right back with more reasons then "well the bible says"

the thing that gets me is how some people are really hypocritical and i just don't get it. for example my one friend is cathloic yet she has pre marital sex. I asked her once if she is so religious why do does she do this? it's an easy thing to not do. and if i thought 100% with out a doubt there was a heaven and a god the sexiest guy in the world could not seduce me. her only answer was that God forgives sins. My thoughts were yea but if you knowingly keep making the same sin...and i also wonder how this is different for oh say gay people. sure in the bible says being gay is a sin yet people are still gay just like people know pre marital sex is a sin yet they still have sex. it's so hypocrtical. why does god forgive one thing and not another? Or drinking. some christians get drunk every night but god forgives...i just don't get it...

And that is why Christians get a bad rep as a whole.

THIS only refers to SOME christians NOT all

Polytheist is cool. My nation used to be that a 1000 years ago and they sacrificed wine and white horse to the spirits and the shaman used to get in a trance and dance all crazy, must've been cool.
Atheists on the other hand can be classified into 2 groups: 1.the group that doesn't know what to believe so they just call themselves atheist but don't deny the existence of God completely and 2.the fanatical atheists who believe(!) that there is no God of any sort . Well, the latter is a pain in the *** to be with cause he will try to convince you just like a faithful missionarian, and the first group are just normal people who are okay to hang out with. And I'm a christian.

I'm a Christian, and here's what I've seen in this forum:

There are some atheists who are very intolerant of Christianity and act as if they hate us. They ridicule our beliefs and go out of their way to mock God and Jesus. Notice that I am not tarring all atheists with that brush because there are many of you who are intelligent, fun, and very nice to be around.

Some of the Pagans/Wiccans/polytheistic folks are intolerant, too, but many of them seem to be a little bit more open-minded about Christianity. That might be because they have their own concept of deity and are willing to accept other views, too.

I do my best to honor other people's views around here, but I am not noted for suffering foolish behavior gladly. I don't believe in mocking someone else's beliefs, but by the same token, I'm not going to put up with a lot of nonsense from people who haven't learned to play well with others.

So the bottom line is that I think about 90% of the atheists/polytheists/non-Christian religious practitioners are decent folks. The 10% of trolls and mockers are annoying, but you're going to find that in almost any group.

I'm sure that there are also a number of Christians who annoy the heck out of other people around here, and for that, I am truly sorry. I won't water down my beliefs just to be politically correct, but I do believe in treating others with respect and honor.

No pious answers...how we truly feel? Hmmmmm, I must admit that, for the majority of atheists/theists and like minded people, -- I am tolerant -- Live and Let Live..is my motto.

For some, the ones who like to spar, I love to spar !!

But, in the big picture...I really do feel superior to a non believer!! Or, a polytheist! Which brings up..Why?

Hmmmmm, First thought is: I know in Whom I have believed and it is nice to have that anchor - from earth to heaven. Second, I have floundered without direction, when younger, and, it does not feel good.
Third, my belief has propelled me into deep levels of thought and caused me to broaden and add to my knowledge...not just of Bible doctrine, but of symbolism and comparative religions and western civilization, etc.
Fourth, It is really nice to be on the winning team! Even though, we are going to have a terrible time in the tribulation days.
Fifth, as...Bryant Gumbell said one time, "if you like me, I am confident; if you don't like me, I am arrogant" is apropos. We Christians take a lot of heat here on R and S (and in life), so, we deserve to walk and talk like the King's proteges.
and Sixth, on an open forum, like R&S, it would be hypocritical to 'pretend' a false humility and to self abase....And that, my friend, is what 'their' real agenda is: "be so tolerant of us, and give us the persona of full acceptance and then --- WE win"...LOL...How very clever !

To thine own self - be True

I think when we act pious and arrogant that it alienates us and any message of Christ that we may intend to convey. Judging others is not our right, position, or authority as Christians. We shouldn't be so concerned about making it clear that we are Christians and that our beliefs are correct. I think we should be expressing Christ's message of love and forgiveness through our actions. God loves His people and wants an opportunity to restore His relationship with them. What better way to reflect the image of God than to show love, respect, and compassion for one another, just as Jesus did? That's what should identify us as Christians.

First of all, Christians would never look down on another because of their beliefs. I never judge my friends because they are gay or Wiccan or atheists or even if they worship cement. A lot of non-Christian groups are judgmental because some forms of Christianity are very biased in their Biblical beliefs. Hence, some Christian beliefs believe that if you are Wiccan, you're going to Hell or Purgatory-some Christian beliefs are very adamant about quoting Scripture and believing that Scripture as law without looking at the person inside.
The one thing I believe in as a Christian is that Jesus loved everyone; the prostitute, the gay person, the leper, the blind man without prejudice.

One of the ten commandments is: Thou shalt not judge lest you be judged. It is not my right to sit there in judgment of someone who does not believe what I do. That is why our founding fathers believe in Freedom of Religion.

As Christ's dying words were: "Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do." It's not my judgment call to say what will happen to others...

As far as what other's think of me is not my concern.

not to sound like a tired cliche, but the best friend i have ever had (she and i go back three decades) is an atheist-i have shared my beliefs and my faith with her, and she has shared her beliefs with me-we're not going to change each other. would i be happy if she found Christ? absolutely, but it doesn't change our relationship or the admiration, respect, and love i have for her-as a Christian, i truly believe that Christ told the truth about Himself-but i also know that not all will believe-the best i can do is present His teachings to others, live my life in accordance with those teachings, and let go of the things i cannot change

No, I don't look down on someone because of their religion or lack of religion or their way of life...unless those things involve them lashing out at or hurting other people.
Who was I, before I became a child of God? God knows I have no basis in my life to be judging anyone else.
What has me upset today is all the hate being spewed at Christians by atheists who then innocently bat their big eyes and say "who me?" with the venom still dripping from their lips.......
I'll get over it. Tomorrow, I'll be my own, sweet, forgiving self again.

I

hope.....

I'm polytheistic (Wiccan), and a lot of Christians I know really don't care I'm a witch because they're well informed and know we're not evil and we don't even believe in the devil.

But there are even more Christians who try to "save" me and continue to be close minded and ignorant about the whole thing.
