Well for one I am pretty sure that the shower heads at Guantanamo do not spray poison gas.
Guantanamo has about 300 prisoners in it. These people are given medical care (the same level of care given to US soldiers), they are allowed to worship in accordance with their religion. They are fed, and cared for. These are people who by all rights should have been killed on the battlefield but werent. In my opinion they are lucky they are not dead, the fact that US soldiers took them prisoner shows atleast an attempt by the US to act in a humane manner.
They are not tortured. They are interrogated. The techniques for interrogation are legal, and the same types of techniques used by civilian police agencies with little difference. There is some variation however not much. The people doing the interrogations know the difference between interrogation and torture. They also know that torturing people gives you no real military intelligence, and only those who dont know what they are doing use those types of methods.
A professional interrogator knows that their best bet is to either trick the person being interrogated into giving up something valuable, or to cut a deal with them.
When you torture someone after a while they agree to anything you say, however you get no real information that you can use.
Also, they let people go from Guantanamo every day usually back to their home country once they have been cleared.
Auschwitz was a concentration camp designed for one purpose and that was the extermination of those who were brought there. Some of the people brought there were forced into labor so that they could work until it came time to kill them. But the purpose of that camp was to kill those who were brought there.
Comparing the two is an over-dramatic attempt to equate US actions to that of Nazi Germany. If you think current US policy is the same as Nazi Germany's than you need to either read some history, or your just plain nuts.

Although being un-educated is not a crime, for you it should be.
Auschwitz was established by the SS as part of the ultimate solution to what the Nazi party said was the problem of the Jews. Those sent to Auschwitz were innocent general public that their only crime was their religion. The people were forced labor, fed just enough to keep them barely alive, and sumarily executed in either toxic gas chambers, or just died from malnutrition and other diseases. Those that were still alive were foced to take the bodies to a giant crematroium and if they didn't get out fast enough were cremated along with the dead. This was part of the genocide of over 6 million people just because they were Jews.
Guantanamo Bay is a detainee camp. People being held there are either illegal enemy combatants (not given protection under the Geneva Convention) or persons that have yet to be determined their status. They are being fed 3 meals per day that are religiously correct for them (no pork products, and usually kosher) They are given time in exercise area, showers, and are free to practice their religion. They are being treated no different that those person in Maximum federal prison. These myths about torture are exactly that myths, and propaganda being spewed by liberal lawyers and media. Not one of the detainees has been executed or used as forced labor. Stop listening to the media bull about torture it doesn't happen.
And by the way, the Nazi party also executed Homosexuals, and Prisoners of War, and others they felt were undesirable.

Dear Carol:
Why don't you Google Auschwitz? I'll bet even Wikipedia has good information on Auschwitz. The difference is that A. was a death camp for men, women, and children. They were starved if they weren't exterminated upon arrival. Those who were exterminated upon arrival had their clothing taken. The fillings of their teeth were taken. Did you know that Mengele made lampshades out of the skins of those he experimented on? My childhood neighbor was there. As a boy he was sterilized and tatooed. They were killed if they got sick. Medical experiments were conducted on them. At Gitmo, there are only adult terrorists. They are fed. They have access to doctors, etc. They can pray. If they're hungry, it's because they choose to reject eating. They are not being exterminated in gas ovens or showers.
DO YOU SEE THE DIFFERENCE NOW?

If you truely knew what went on at Auschwitz and how cruel things were there, then you'd wouldn't be asking that question. While I don't condone what goes on at Gitmo, the Military installation in Cuba has no comparison to Auschwitz circa WWII.

they are feeding them ice cream, giving them korans, they are treated very well a Gauntamano despite what the media has told you. The prisoners there are soldiers captured on the battlefield.
Aushwitz was a place in Poland where innocent civilians were rounded up, for no other reason than racial hatred. They were stuffed into ovens and burned alive. There was no torture going on there, only mass homicide.
There is no comparison, despite what your sick, putrid hatred for America tells you.
