What dog food brand do you buy for your dog, and how much does the dog weight?

I have been feeding my 2 pits with Royal Canin, for 7 months now. I just like the results, they get skin allergies, they got tired of that food already, they don't really want to it unless they're very hungry, plus the food is very costly as well. I'd like to know what you people feed your dogs, because I will go to Petco in a few hours, and I will buy a different brand of dog food. I was thinking about buying Canidae, or Solid Gold. I would pick Blue Buffalo, but Petsmart are the only ones who carry that brand, and that's store is kind of far from where I live.

I adopted my dog, so I do not know if she is a pure breed American Pit Bull Terrier. But she definitely looks like it, just more athletic than bulky. She is 50 pounds of pure muscle. I feed her Nutro Natural Choice lamb and rice because it is good for a dog's skin and coat. She has really bad dandruff, and just all around sensitive skin. This food REALLY helped. She does not have any dandruff anymore.

You are going to get a TON of Different suggestions from people. I think you should take these suggestions and do your own research on the different foods. And when you switch foods it is best to switch gradually, rather than all of the sudden. This will help prevent diarrhea. You just gradually switch out the foods over a week or two.

You said your dogs have skin allergies. If they have inhaled allergies then a high quality diet will help some, but not a whole lot. If your dogs have FOOD allergies you will want to talk to your vet about a specific prescription diet that will help with that.

Do not talk to a vet like Stark suggested. Talk to a pet nutritionist. Vets are not trained nutritionists and usually end up suggesting Science Diet which is not a high grade dog food.

If your dog has food allergies, I don't suggest Canidae. I have a pit and she had some problems with the Sunflower Oil. We are now doing great with Natures Variety.

I have a 55 lb Pit with food allergies. If she eats any food with meat or meat byproducts she gets a rash and scratches all the time. I have been feeding her Eukanuba FP, which is fish and potato. She gets baby carrots as treats. The food is not cheap. It is $50 for a 30 lb bag. She gets a bath every couple of weeks with a medicated shampoo, also not cheap. And Pits are such a macho tough breed. Her name is Honey and she really is.

I feed my Staffordshire Terrier Nutro dry for the high energy dogs. She loves it. Somewhat costly but a great product. She has seasonal allergies, but nothing to do with the food. Living in VA, Mar and Apr are bad skin/hair months for her. It also makes the cleanup fragrance free...hahaha!

I would use Solid Gold. If your dogs have allergies get one of those foods for that - names escape me right now. I think they are called Chicken Soup or something like that - my dogs love the allergy food.
