Before we point out that Muslim women are being oppressed then...
An American is sexually assaulted every 2 minutes;
1 in 6 American women have been raped;
About 10% of the rape victim are men;
Less than 39% of sexual assaults are to law enforcement;
Every 9 seconds in the US a woman is assaulted and beaten;

I would like to point out that followers of countries laws and religion are not always perfect.
Rights were given to Muslim women and it still continues to this day.

All that is true except the part about women getting custody of the children in the event of a divorce. I'm married to a Saudi Arab and if I divorce him he has the rights to custody of my children. If he dies custody automatically goes to his parents. When they die custody goes to his eldest brother. And yes I'm Muslim. And so is my husband.

In a country that is governed by islamic clerics enforcing sharia law, do muslim women have:
1) The right to dress however they like?
2) The right to go out of doors without accompaniment by her husband or a male relative?
3) The right to speak with a male in public who is not her husband or relative?
4) The right to engage in sexual congress with whomever she wishes?
5) The right to choose not to have children?
6) The right to leave the church? (no muslims have this right; the penalty for apostasy is death)

How does any of that have anything to do with Islam? Islam is almost as old as Christianity and has oppressed its women just as much as Christianity has. What changed is that the world is waking up.

Such rights must not only be granted but the laws that enforce them implemented. This is what I believe. I'm a Christian. I've been around only for 53 years, so I didn't start it, but I certainly support it.

d, in Arab world women is for house chores only and bedtime. Women in Arab world are so cruel to their domestic helpers, giving meager foods, no salaries, iron is sometimes flying to to their faces. This is based on Sri Lankan, Filipino, Indian, Indonesian and Bangladesh who work as domestic helpers in Arab world. Praying daily made them more hypocrites since their attitude is in contrast to their religion.

If women are equal to men, it means women are allowed to beat their disobedient husbands.
So let me ask you: Are you sure women are equal to men in islam?

Go Rosey, go. And get more of your brothers and sisters here. Now the Americans are no longer saying you don't exist. They are now saying you are an insignificant minority and even that is progress. Keep going. Be brave. Peace be with you.
