Mark 6:1 Jesus left there and went to his hometown of Nazareth. His disciples went with him. 2 When the Sabbath day came, he began to teach in the synagogue. Many who heard him were amazed.
“Where did this man get these things?” they asked. “What’s this wisdom that has been given to him? He even does miracles! 3 Isn’t this the carpenter? Isn’t this Mary’s son? Isn’t this the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon? Aren’t his sisters here with us?” They were not pleased with him at all.

In the bible it does't say that Jesus was a carpenter, but it says that he was the son of a carpenter. I found an answer through this verse online.
On the Sabbath he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were astounded. They said, “Where did this man get all this? What is this wisdom that has been given to him? What deeds of power are being done by his hands! Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary [Other ancient authorities read “son of the carpenter and of Mary”] and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon, and are not his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him.
—Mark 6:2-3 (NRSV)
There are some interesting aspects to this passage.
Depending on which ancient manuscript you read, the people are either asking if Jesus is a carpenter or if He is the son of a carpenter. Either way, they were asking because they were surprised to see someone whom they thought was a carpenter functioning as a rabbi. Jesus was teaching in the synagogue on the Sabbath; in other words, He was preaching the sermon. Since they thought He was a carpenter usurping the role of a rabbi, they understandably took offense. If He were a carpenter, as they wondered, His ability to preach would be quite amazing.
However, the only people who thought this situation was remarkable and offensive were the people who were mistaken. Obviously, the synagogue authorities had allowed Him to preach, which means they knew that He was not a carpenter.

Ive never read it, but you need to think about the time period and the class system though. If Joseph was a carpenter, any son that he raised would thus be raised to follow up as a carpenter. It would be the same if Joseph had been a cabinet maker, or possibly a salesman. Anyway, it may say it, but you should just know that Jesus was probably taught to be a carpenter as an adolescent, but instead of becoming a carpenter like Joseph, Jesus went off spreading religion.

Joseph was a carpenter, and taught Jesus the trade. Scripture does not indicate what they built, but an early historian claimed they made wooden plows.
Jesus worked as a carpenter until his ministry began. He
was about 30 years old at that time. Some believe Joseph died before Jesus began preaching.

In Mark, Jesus is called a carpenter. Matthew says he was a carpenter's son, suggesting that Jesus may have spent some of his first 30 years practicing carpentry with his father (Mark 6:3, Matthew 13:55).

mark 6:3 is one of the places
6 And he departed from there and came into his home territory, and his disciples followed him. 2Â When it became sabbath, he started teaching in the synagogue; and the greater number of those listening were astounded and said: “Where did this man get these things? And why should this wisdom have been given this man, and such powerful works be performed through his hands? 3Â This is the carpenter the son of Mary and the brother of James and Joseph and Judas and Simon, is it not? And his sisters are here with us, are they not?” So they began to stumble at him. 4Â But Jesus went on to say to them: “A prophet is not unhonored except in his home territory and among his relatives and in his own house.” 5Â So he was able to do no powerful work there except to lay his hands upon a few sickly ones and cure them. 6Â Indeed, he wondered at their lack of faith. And he went round about to the villages in a circuit, teaching.

Mark 6:2-4 (New Living Translation)
New Living Translation (NLT)
Holy Bible.
2 The next Sabbath he began teaching in the synagogue, and many who heard him were amazed. They asked, “Where did he get all this wisdom and the power to perform such miracles?” 3 Then they scoffed, “He’s just a carpenter, the son of Mary[a] and the brother of James, Joseph,[b] Judas, and Simon. And his sisters live right here among us.” They were deeply offended and refused to believe in him.
4 Then Jesus told them, “A prophet is honored everywhere except in his own hometown and among his relatives and his own family.”

Nowhere, it says that some people called him "the son of the carpenter" and that happens just ONCE in the whole bible
Here it is:
On the Sabbath he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were astounded. They said, “Where did this man get all this? What is this wisdom that has been given to him? What deeds of power are being done by his hands! Is he not the son of the carpenter and Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon, and are not his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him.
—Mark 6:2-3
Some translations go "the carpenter... the son of Mary" but that's not what it says in greek.
