Because that is what Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) mentioned in his one of the sayings to His companions.
But, most important is to follow Him, His successor and true religion, by following all Holy Prophets (Peace and blessings of The God on all of them).

When I have had faint visions of Him, He appears to have long hair, but the face isn't clear enouph. I think he chooses to have a beard or not at times. I guess there are shavers in heaven.
I think he is going to come back similar to how he looked when He ascended. Probably with long hair, beard & scars in His hands...
The Revelation vision is a vision of Jesus as the Ancient of days. This is the Word of God. When Jesus comes back, He is coming back in His Resurrected Humanity. He is standing at the right hand of God in His Humanity right now & when He comes back it is Jesus Christ the resurrected Savior returning in the Glory of God. He Is the lion of Judah.

Yes, I think He will keep His long hair. Because He will return in the same way He left. We will also see the scars from the wounds of the nails. He will coming on a different mission this time. He is coming to make all things right and get rid of evil.

Revelation 1 has a description of Jesus when He returns. Beyond the description, it would be a guess.

Revelation tells us what He looks like when He returns. The sight will scare many, but those who know, will be humbled by His appearance and know it is He, the Messiah.
