No, my brother thinks the same thing...once he even went so far to send some food back at a restaurant as he thought they had not rinsed the dishes off after washing them!! My mom thinks the same thing...I personally like it.
I use to teach home economics to high school kids and I let them taste cilantro...they either loved it or hated it and the kids who hated it reported that it tasted like soap to them.

Funny you should ask, I say that all the time.

The key is when there is too much cilantro compared to the other ingredients, it ends up tasting like soap. I actually really like cilantro, but it must be used in MODERATION. Obviously, if you just ate a piece of cilantro by itself, it would probably taste that way too, but it really can add a great flavor to a variety of foods if not over-used.

Not it you used too much. Actually I find it takes like Hell and how would I know that if I hadn't been there? Cilantro, an herb used successfuly in Mexican cookery dates back to pre-Columbian history, but it aint salt and pepper, please use gently and you will succeed in making Guacamole or other hispanic recipes.

I love Cilantro in birria and soups. Maybe you should wash your hands a bit more, next time.
