Well that's just charming that is. Humans die in the country too - if one of your family was sick, would you just let them die? I assume not. Care to explain why animals are any different? I don't love most of the animals I treat, but I treat them because I have respect for them.
Blood in faeces is serious. You don't have to love the animal, but if you give a s*** at all, take it to the vets. There's not a lot you can do at home. In fact I can't really think of anything, because we don't know what's wrong with the animal!
If you have too many animals to spend money on - have less animals. I live in the country too and I recognise your attitude - try coming in to the 21st century, or at least the 20th - or don't drag your animals down with you.
I'm not sorry for being harsh, I feel angry that your animal could be suffering because of your attitude. I always take offence if an someone dares to own an animal they're not prepared to help - an attitude completely incomprehensible to you I'm sure.
Waste time debating the merits of this AFTER you've taken the cat to the vet please.

well the bloody stool can mean a number of things, i would think it could be caused by parasites and personaly, i really think you should take it to a vet. it's probably not life threatening but most likely fixable easily. your vet will probably give you a bottle of this yellowish fluid with a dropper. this is what i got when i took my ferret to the vet for his bloody stool, it was actualy for cats and dogs but it fixed the problem anyways. if you dont take it to a vet it could eventualy be life threatening or decrease the life expectancy of your cat. and i understand what you mean, i live in the country too and i worry about the vet putting them down but would you rather let him go easy? or let him have a long painful death. even thought this isnt the case.

OK, some suggestions of what it could be, could be a parasite infestations, do you worm your animals? or could be hook worm and you have to get meds from vet for that. My cat had this. It could be colitis so you could try a change of cat food. Do you buy food for your cats. As a suggestion, don't have too many animals if they can 't go to the vet. I live in the country as well but my pets see the vet when needed. Good luck.

Why bother asking, then? Your cat has something wrong - could be serious - and you're just going to sit there and watch it suffer because you don't want to spend money. That's sick. Why do you even have an animal? Because I don't care how much you claim to love it, you obviously don't care.
I am very well aware that animals die. So do people. But that doesn't mean we turn a blind eye to something that is most likely easily treatable.

No tail up = I am sad. No picking me up = my stomach hurts. Blood in stool could be something as simple as kitty hemmorhoids or something as sad and complex as a tumor in the intestines or feline leukemia. You sound like you care --and you could set limits on what you will do at the vet and that way help him if it's a simple problem.
You don't want him to die in agony, right? Bring a stool sample and state outright what is OK fro the vet to do (test it for parasites for example, and a leukemia test maybe) and what is not (exploratory surgery $$$). That way you will find out if it is something you could not help and if so, have him put down. And you will feel like you did right.

He does need a vet...but it seems to me like he ingested something and it is stuck in his colon or his intestines....that is why he has blood in the stool. The reason he is not raising his tail is that he is probably in pain. If it is something in his colon, you might be able to get it out by putting an enema gel in his bum....I KNOW IT sounds bad, but that might help get whatever it is out. But if it is in the intestine....he needs surgery or he'll eventually die.

i honestly think you need to take him to the vet as well. my personal feeling is that if you are not willing or cannot afford to look after an animal in all ways (food, shelter, love, vet costs), then you should not take that responsibility upon yourself. it is cruel to not have him checked out because he could be suffering and you are not aware of it.

if you won;t take your animals to a vet when they are sick then you should not have any animals...why don;t you call animal control so he can at least get well and not have to suffer any longer,.he or she is very sick and should be seen asap.,. sounds like there might be blockage or kidney problems,. lol-kitty

WELL THERE ARE A FEW FACTORS. ONE THE CAT HAS GOTTEN INTO SOMETHING LIKE BAD FOOD CANDY, CHOC. ETC. OR IT IS NEEDS A LAXATIVE OR WORSE IT COULD BE CANCER.. WHAT I WOULD DO IS JUST KEEP CLOSE EYE ON CAT AND IF IT GETS WORSE THEN IT WILL DIE OR VET. IF YOU WOULD LIKE MORE DETAILS PLEASE CONTACT ME AT WWW.THECOUNTRYCUPBOARDTOO.COM
