This is an argument that many religious folk repeat over and over, but of course that's ludicrous and spawns from ignorant rhetoric. I don't subscribe to the contents of the Bible so I'm evil? Can you people get any dumber?

I have a hard time understanding why if you feel there is no God, you have no morlas.

Need I remind folks that Hitler was a Catholic and believed in God?

If there is no God, then there is no Supreme Being to which we must give an account—no Judgment Day, no heaven or hell. If this is just a great cosmic accident, then there is no such thing as morality (there is no right or wrong, no good or evil). We should just live by the saying, “Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die.”

But if there is a God—well, that’s a different story. Are we an accident or the image of God? Are we without purpose or have an eternal goal? Do we live like an animal or like a child of God? In the end, is it dust or eternity?

And so, to answer the second part of your question—I would completely understand if you just walked up to me and blasted me in the face (like the guy who just killed 33 people at Virginia Tech). If there is no God, it would be no more wrong for you to shoot me than for the ice to melt or the sun to burn.

I'm a christian and do not believe atheists have no morals because I know that God has put in all humans a conscience which makes us differenciate between good and evil.
Why would it be good for you to have people be nice to you and you in turn would not be nice to them ? We all have morals ( even if many have damaged theirs ). What makes us different from animals is that God breathed his life into us.
Many atheists have tried to ridicule the bible but have come across a wall of solid proof.
An example is the atheist who wrote: Ben Hur.
He turned christian after doing some research.
Many want to be atheists because they don't want to be accountable to a superior being. But God says there will be a jugement day for all of us...believers and non believers.
If there is a forest fire it is not because the ostrich puts her head in the sand that she will be spared from burning.
The perfection of creation is a proof in itself that there has to be a creator. The chances that all this came to perfection is like if you took a watch, took it apart into as many pieces as you could, put them in a box, shook the box and when you would open the box the watch would have been put back together and ticking at the exact time, seconds included. The odds for chance is just unimagineable.
As to your second question in that if you are evil...
In a sense we are all evil, sinners that is. Sin is doing what does not please God.
If ever you decide to do some serious research you could also check www.blueletterbible.org
I pray that you discover the authentic God(not a religion) through Jesus Christ.
I don't consider myself better than anyone. Fortunately I have been forgiven and have the joy of living for a living God and am certain to be with him eternally.
Hope you will be there with me !

It's like flogging a dead horse. Mass hypnotizim is all I think it is, this religion stuff. But I gotta say that if a gifted person does come to be, the non belivers might be the ones who belive, because religion won't get in the way. And wouldn't it be a real kicker if that person was female? All those belivers wouldn't believe her and go to Hell 'cause God said he's sending a son.
Maybe the bible is really satans word, and god put a few lines in to make it more even?
it makes sense, because who would want to write something people would kill or die for except a melicious entity who would create a book of such huge contradictions of love and hate, torture and compassion, and talk of brimestone and unforgiveness if man doesn't follow it belive in it and preach it?
If god's real, I don't think he'd have to prove a point, or threaten, or put fear in man. What would be the point if he can create and change everything in a second? Or are we just a surreal sims game after all?

Agreed completely! I'm an atheist, and I have excellent morals. I'm far kinder than many of my contemporaries, so that is the most ignorant statement I've ever heard. I hate when these evangelists try to shove the bible down my throat.

"the catholic religion is a very exclusive club, that is apparently sexist, racist and homophobic. They are the ones with no morals"
You are absolutely correct.

"Can you people get any dumber?" A rhetorical question implying an assumption obvious of the asker is no way to make your point. It takes less time to commit an error than to demonstrate one, but you atheists are always ahead of schedule in that department. Do I think you're evil? Yes. Do I think you're stupid? Yes.

I don't believe that. All in all, we're people. There are many moral aethists (most I'd say are moral) and there are many immoral religious people (though I would say most religious people are moral as well). I think it all comes down to the basic human goodness of the individual. That isn't something that has to do with religion. It has to do with our better natures and what we know to be right--whether that belief is influenced by religion or not.

They fail to realize that Morals are taught by life experience, parents, and others of influence such as teachers. They do not come from a book.

Yeah, my religion teacher always busts out the whole "Without God there is no morality" argument. I personally thinks it's completely idiotic because although I don't believe in a God, I have better morals than most of my classmates who do believe in God.

atheist do have morals, most killers and rapists are very religious... there are not many known atheist killers or rapist... also if you believe the idea that people are dumb as a group, but smart individually, then yes, as long as the worlds population increases we are getting dumber and dumber.
