One of my cousins is an air force pilot. He told me that flying with the Air Force is much better than the Navy, because of the types of aircraft, and the types of missions. His brother is a Navy pilot who wishes that he would have joined the Air Force. Plus, in the Navy, you constantly have to learn new strategies and techniques ( I don't know if that is the right way to put it). In the Air Force, when you are a Lieutenant, you learn your craft and it is as simple as that. Plus you are able to fly more.

P.S. I chose Air Force ROTC over Navy ROTC and am in my second year.

Navy Pilot program is better because you have a variety of knowledge and exposure to a more complex work because you will be in the Navy and a pilot at the same time unlike in the Air Force.

Definitely Navy, by far. Check out how long a typical Air Force runway is, and bear in mind, it is stationary. Now, look at how long a Navy runway is and remember that it is constantly moving in all directions. If an AF pilot has difficulty putting it down on one, he/she can always divert to an alternate field. If a Navy pilot runs into the same problem, a choice has to be made, land it anyway or go swimming. Air Force: "Shoot first, identify later."

Both of them are competitive. It all depends how well you do. I've seen people go from flying planes to flying helicopters. I know for a fact in the Navy flight program after two failed landings your kicked off the program.
