This is an honest question. I know some Christians do enjoy secular entertainment, some only enjoy PG secular entertainment, and some avoid it altogether.

So... you can answer with "yes", "no", "sometimes", "occasionally", etc etc, and tell me why if you'd like.

As a Mormon, i never watched anything with a PG-13. So when I did start to watch the PG-13, i was a little shocked, now as a christian, I am use to it, as a Mormon I never saw the Michael Meyer's Movies, or Scream movies or nightmare on elm street unless they were edited for TV. I saw Rock Horror picture show for the first time when I was in my thirties. I liked the passion of the Christ, to see what Jesus really suffered for our sins, they just left out the part were they tore out his beard to. I try to stay away from movies with nudity in it and extremem violence. i went to see the chinese movie, something called the curse of the something...and I couldn't get the movie out of my head and it took my eyes off of God for a couple of days, which is why I try to stay away from violent entertainment. I don't go to the movies like Saw 3., but I like criminology so I will go to movies that have anything to do with a serial killer and I try to turn my face when the violence comes up, knowing the images are forever freezed framed in my mind.

Well - I am an evangelical Christian....and I do watch a lot of secular entertainment. At this time in my life - I feel strong enough in my relationship with Christ that those movies will not effect my faith. Now, if a movie has an exhorbanent amount of swearing or sex - I will most definitely walk out of the theatre....same goes for gory violence. On the other side - my kids barely watch PG....and they will probably never be allowed to watch anything above that until they leave my house.

Flipping to my sister - she only watches PG maybe PG-13 depending on the story....but she feels a conviction for that. If I ever feel convicted on what I'm watching - I'll do the same to whatever degree I feel Christ leading me.....

Honestly, at times I do. I prefer shows without any of that. The Andy Griffith show is one of my favorites:D Sadly, now days, even G rated movies can contain worrisome material. As a personal rule, I do not watch R rated movies. I have at times seen movies on TV that were originally R but were edited, and there are a few movies that were probably rated R and not edited much that I have seen:(
Often my decision on whether or not I will give something a try is the promo. I try to notice what it is PROMOting. If every seen, or most, are of women running around with various parts sticking out, I figure that must be their idea of a plot, and I skip it.
My family and I have at times joked their will come a time when we won't even be able to turn on the TV. As it is we rarely go to the movies as their hardly ever is something that seems worth it.
I'm jus glad we taped all those old Get Smart and Scarekrow and Mrs. King episodes:D

Spelling sweetie please, I shudder to think what a Chritian is.

Now to your question, yes, no, and yes.
I am extremely desensitized to violence, sadly. Been in the world too long I guess.
No, I don't think anyone should watch movies with graphic sex scenes in them, it's adultery of the mind.
Yes, but if the movie contains blasphemy I don't watch it again and I flinch every time they do it. There is a HUGE difference between common swear words and blasphemy. I wish Hollywood would get a clue.

UMMM

Did you ever read the Bible?
Its full of violence, and sex, an swearing,
Check it out.

It has the best war storys, the best love storys, and leaves people who denied God, swearing at him.
Moves
Ya, Id have to say ya, I watch bible storys, all of that is included into it.
God told us to believe in him and live a holy life, but he knew we could not, so Jesus came and died on the Cross.
If you watched that move, you know we do.
But that doesnt mean we talk with the words of swearing, I dont, or violent, an live in sex mind.
Our thoughts are being transformed to God's Son by the reading of the word, we still have flesh,
So we still have things we like, a good movie is one of them.
We all have to suffer for our works, and deeds we choose to look at and hear, and we make choices of what is real bad and whats not, I know one thing, none of us wathces xx rated moves, some GP's are scarry, We do have a line.
But we still live on this earth, so we are exposed to life, we are not dead yet, and God doesnt want us to live as if we were just be carful in our choices.
If its too bad, we can get up and walk, or change the chanel, I do alot of discovery, and sience, Its just how much of God the person wants, will decide what he or she watches. But God is going to have the last say so. Everyone is going to have there day in Gods face. I just have time to tell people about Gods Son, and keep my nieckers off the fine line, Its a narrow way that leads to God. And few that find it, Not every one who says Lord Lord will get to enter into the Kingdom of God. I just have to say Forgive me, and never watch or do it again, Remembering, eyes are the eyes of the sole, and ears are the ears of the sole, what goes in, effects the heart. I have to watch me, not you.

I watch what I enjoy.
For instance, I have a real passion for old old horror movies, like the old Dracula, Frankenstien, Wolf Man movies. I taped King Kong the other day...a real jewel, from 1933...
I do not like the modern day "slasher" films. There is absolutely no art to Jason or Freddie....
I enjoy Disney films. I like the magic. I like the childish innocence. I like cartoons, especially Looney Tunes.
I like the Harry Potter movies...yep, I'm a Christian, and I like Harry Potter. I like Star Wars.
I don't really like the kind of "entertainment" you are talking about...I don't see how it's really entertaining. To me, "entertainment" means something to appeal to my imagination, not to tell me about my neighbor's marital problems.......

I'm not a "Chritian" (hahaha, you misspelled it). Anyway, I don't watch movies with those things in it if I can avoid it. Some movies I consider important to watch for historical value or something, and they will contain some of those elements. But I don't like it.

I will watch most any movie if it is good. History of Violence was fantastic. Yet I never saw Gibson's The Passion because I thought it too violent for my taste. Weird, huh?
