lol i dont think it's weird at all! i have a pet chicken too =] i LOVE her to death and she's spoiled, she gets baths, gets her nails painted and she'll even sit on my chest and watch movies with me. and i suppose that people in the city dont have chickens because they dont have anywhere to put them, and they never think about putting them inside because they think they're dirty, they're not dirty, they just poop a lot lol.

It is not weird at all. My friend lost her dog to old age and was very lonesome. Achicken somehow burrowed under a fence and everytime she was working in the yard this chicken came over and comforted her with calming chicken sounds. With the arrival of a new puppy, the hen went back to her own life as a chicken. Realists would say by tending the yard my friend was turning soil which exposed worms and other edible things for chickens. I believe this is called a symbiotic relationship. But chicken and human where happier for awhile.

Chickens arent weird pets their great.
Chickens are amazingly intelligent and can be taught tricks such as coming when their name is called, and learning simple tricks.
they are very affectionate, and will sit on your shoulder the same way a parrot would.
as far as their diet, its not just seeds and water chickens love and even need some insects, fresh greens, and even some cooked pasta.
the reason few people keep them in the city is because some cities have laws against keeping chickens, and most people assume chickens can only be kept on a farm or outdoors, chickens can be housed indoors, there are even specially designed cages for this.
I hope this helps

Actually, I had a pet chicken and lived in the city. She was GREAT! It wasn't too bad because she was a hen and didn't make that much noise when she layed eggs. It's the roosters that the neighbors would have problems with.
Anyway, I had my hen for about 4 years. I wish you a lot of fun with yours!

not at all- we always raised our egg-layers in the house for the first few weeks, and they became sweet and gentle, even after we turned them out into the coop! :)
