If they are not drawing blood, they are just playing, and trying to decide which one is "the boss"

I THINK I can understand ur lingo there. If I am deciphering correctly, u are concerned with the big dog being to rough with the little dog?? Correct? That is normal. If they are not "siblings" then it is perfectly normal. The older one is just showing the little guy whos boss. My 2 year old lab and my 8 month German Shepherd do the same thing ALL the time. They are just playing. I would keep a watch on them though, my lab did draw blood on the german shepherd, but they get along just fine now.

They are challenging one another for dominance. Basically, the knock over is called a dominance roll-over. It is done by the higher status or stronger dog and is usually just holding, not biting.
I can only guess that the little one is the older of the two dogs and seems to be getting the worst of it.
It is not a good thing, in a two dog family for the owner to permit a dominance struggle. You don't want either of your dogs to be top-dog, that's your position. Physically separate the two of them at the first sign that they are going to get into it and command 'NO' in a strong, deep voice, not loud. It may take a few times and you may want to consider taking one or both of them to Basic Obedience class so that you can reinforce your status in the house.
Good Luck.

I understand what your asking. It sounds like they are just palying with each other. The older dog will get on topof the puppy and pin him down when get get a bit too frisky. It is your job to either let it happen or to put a stop to it. Your the boss rememebr so its your house and your dogs You step up and take control. If you think they are just playing around just keep a eye on them and when you think things are getting outof hand then step in and seperate the 2. They must learn that you are the boss, but in a nice way OK.

They are fine: my dogs play all the time. Sometimes I think somethings happened and they are killing each other from the vicious growls I hear, but, they are just playing. As long as nobody is getting hurt.

The dogs are playing.

Hey Justin, don't let them get you down hon, you're being yourself. Don't listen to them. Take care.
