Can grasscloth wallpaper be used in a bathroom?

Question

I recently had grasscloth wallpaper added to one wall of my office, and I simply LOVE the look.

When i purchased it, the clerk told me not to ever use grasscloth in a bathroom or kitchen because the moisture and oils would ruin the grass.

But when I look at decorating magazines, I see many bathrooms with real grasscloth wallpaper.

Is there a certain kind I should get to accomplish this?

grass cloth wallpaper is beautiful, I don't know for sure about in a bathroom but I recently stayed in a hotel and the bathroom had grass cloth paper, seemed to be in fine condition, so I would say yes it is o.k. maybe you should consider using commercial grade paper to be sure.
look at www.designyourwall.com they have lots of grasscloth wallpapers.

I would agree that a grasscloth would be a difficult texture to use in an area with so much moisture and would not choose it for the bath or kitchen. Decorators like to take license to show all kinds of things because they look nice but are not always practical. It's what they do. You might want to find a washable wallpaper that looks like grasscloth to accomplish a better, useable finish.

I installed grasscloth wallpaper in the built-in closet in my bathroom several months ago and it looks really great and I have not had any moisture problems.
