The concept of God being too big and too holy is found in one verse which talks about times when Moses (pbuh) saw God and spoke to Him, and was later on denied to see Him again because he sinned. From that time on, noone saw God or spoke to Him directly, but through angel Gabriel. As for my personal relationship with God ... I pray to Him 5 times a day as a means of praise and glorification. That is what we Muslims call obligatory prayer and cannot be considering as 'talking to God.' But there is also another type of prayer called du'a, where one simply talks to God - you know when you ask for stuff :P Sometimes I simply sit, usually at night when no one is around, and I just let His grace fill me. It's weird, sometimes I can almost feel a hand touch me. Of course we have relationships with God, it's just a matter of how one develops it :)

I do not know enough about Islam to answer clearly, but I wanted to comment on DBznut's answer. I am a Christian, and in a way, yes, we get to God through his son, Christ, but, God is Jesus. They are the same spirit, just in to forms. That is why there is the idea of the Trinity, the Father (God) Son (Jesus) and the Holy Ghost. We can and do have a personal relationship with our Spiritual "dad" God.

In Islam, the relationship between a Muslim and God is just as personal as the relationship between Christians and God.
God is not too big or holy to be close to him.
Muslims cultivate their own special relationship with God mainly through our five prayers throughout the day.

Yes, of course you're allowed to have a personal relationship with Allah. You pray to Allah, asking for advice and answers to the greatest mysteries of life. Its actually good to make du'a or prayer.

No way, in Islam the whole point of not having priests is to have a personal, direct relationship with God! He tells us to put our trust in Him and that He is closer to us than our jugular vein--that He is the best of protectors and helpers. Every verse (except one) of the Quran starts with "In the name of God. Most Merciful, Most Gracious." Allah can even become our friend (like with Abraham) if we please Him and do good! :] hope that helped. peace.

the trinity was used by a race of man-kind who emerged out of the earth from the dragon or "devil" to decieve ***** humans by mixing with them and dullening their auras so that they remain on earth when god comes back before the great volcanos errupt every 3600 years. when the ash goes up from theses super volcanos it blots out the sun and demons spew from the earth who could not have in sun light, see? the ***** blood in you is of GOD. the genes, or blood is the inheritance. the inheritance of love. the caucasoid and mongoloid have much different genetic memories, reptilian.
The dragon is revered in both cultures as wonderful and powerful but in gods word is only very deceptive adn wants to decieve us, let us not be decieved and love the ***** in us. please believe me brother/sister we only have a bit more time. half of the honey bees on the earth are dead already. this means were less than 2 years from famine
god is love we are the only love on the planet lets heal each other

asserting "God" might desire to consult with any god yet asserting "Allah" skill our god, the only god. And specific contained in the Quran Allah refers to himself by using this call even although Allah has many different names it is the main consumer-friendly. additionally we adore asserting Allah through fact we like Allah and once you adore somebody you adore repeating their call, do no longer you? ^_^

Yes, of course we Muslims can (and SHOULD) get close to God and have a personal relationship with Him. Believe me, what you've heard is purely untrue. We aren't supposed to view God is Someone to Whom we can't get close or have a close relationship with. Aww... come onnn, buddy! :D
Edit: Gregory, LOL! No need to spread ignorance and hatred :). I really hope I don't have to paste my answers to questions here on y/a where people have mentioned that the Quran hates non-Muslims and allows Muslims to kill them. I don't mind giving some links to those answers of mine (from another ID that I used to have), so here ya go: http://ph.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AgW5lkwrHL0imHB.6NzxkimJSAx.?qid=20070305180426AA8Ox0O&show=7#profile-info-0d34fe3b9e217c747c060b9c91180167aa , http://ph.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AiGX3JKkVCi52W8oOsGSpjCJSAx.?qid=20070305140334AAaG175&show=7#profile-info-9bf15bcb064503bbb696183ea31f7ba1aa , http://ph.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AjBlJUNPXuzJ.d.AJzph3A6JSAx.?qid=20070228031215AAHkB75&show=7#profile-info-655KpL6Daa , and THIS ONE MOST IMPORTANTLY: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070121151136AAOLdnn&pa=FZB6NXXtFWMW0cLWwu0c9nFaWQvWoisslQ.xO90R_r0TywF.iTY-&paid=add_watch . And for you to use youtube in order to learn the truth about a religion is nothing but foolishness, senseless, and a lack of understanding and sincerity on your part. Nothing wrong with that, of course, but it won't do you any good--only bad.
Peace and blessings be upon you all!

Christians don't know god, they are just confused.
Christians can't have a persona; relationship with god, because they have to go through someone to get to god, thats not personal thats impersonal.
They have to go through jesus, they have to go through there priests.
