I would recomend something very high intensity, such as full court basketball, martial arts, etc. The reason for this is that they burn a large amount of fat in a small amount of time as well as kicking up your metabolism. Do some form of high intensity at least three times a week. I understand you're a girl and probably do not want huge muscles, but lifting weights in full body workouts will increase the metabolism as well. But no matter what people want to hear, working out alone will not make you lose weight quickly. Proper eating with healthy foods solely when hungry will not only lose the flubber, but through nutrition you will find a great frame awaiting you on the mirror in the mornings. Discipline, Discipline, Discipline! With passion and concentration will come success. Good luck.
"Whatever you do, work at it with your whole heart as though working for the Lord and not for man." Colossians 3: 23

Use the elliptical for 6 days a week, 20 minutes minimum. If you really want to see results, you should shock your body every few days by doing a completely different cardio workout, such as running or swimming. Doing that, you should easily lose some weight in a few weeks, but if you have a lot of time on your hands, go for the aerobic videos for another additional 20 minutes.
As for the weights, start with the smaller weights and work your way up. Don't work on the same group of muscles everyday. Let them rest for at least a day.
By July, you can lose more than 15 lbs. if you keep up the work.

10 lbs is a reasonable goal to reach in the time that you want. You should check into bodyforlife.com or bodybuilding.com. I would suggest both cardio and weight training. It is great that you are going to cut out all of the soda. I would change that out for water. Make sure that you eat a diet of healthy protein, healthy carbs, and healthy fats. It does describe those on the websites that I suggested.

Namaste
First, the only "slip up" you should acknowledge is if you eat something truly horrible for you, like poison. Other wise it's just food. Don't kick your self in the a55 over it. Thats mental hell and totally useless.
Second, the big, sit all the way up, sit ups are great for killing your back, but little else. Do the tight small little sit ups with your pelvis tilted up slightly and both lower and upper abs and your back will get stronger.
Don't forget to have a strong S.O. ,
(thats self opinion for those who don't know)
and love your self no matter what. In the end we are all we have.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter your stats and it will tell you how many calories a day you need to maintain your weight. take 300-400calories off that number and that's how much you need to lose weight.
eat 5-6 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones.
5-8 servings of fruit and vegetables a day.
8 glasses of water a day.
4-6 times a week cardio work out for 30-50min plus light weight training.
no junk food, no sodas, no white flour (white bread, pasta, cookies, cakes etc)

i think you should limit yourself to 1200 calories a day
your diet should consist of only
lean meats like chicken and fish
whole wheat flours not too much
fruits and vegetables
and one 200 calorie snack -anything-
and 30 mins at least everyother day on the elliptical machine
and after a couple weeks a little weight lifting
and you should most likely if not lose more weight than your goal
good luck
