I have just seen someone say
if you were a true Muslim you would not be open minded
I have seen people in the past here say
if you were a true Christian you would be stoning people

why do so many people focus on the negative
why arent we doing more praising for those who are still following their faith yet are becoming more open and peaceful than those of the past ?

people hate others for what their religion has done
shouldnt we be showing more love to those for what they are doing for their religion ?

it is the belief in subordinate spiritual class that motivates a lot of people in their respective religions. to have something that they (being a certain type of ego driven believer) can be elevated by. it is not so much different than racism. there is focus on the negative because that is where the discourse of judgment resides, and because the negative is much more interesting.
we rarely focus on those that do good or those that expand virtue, we are more fascinated by our collective demons.
the divine never seeks to hurt, in my opinion, be that theistic or humanistic, there is no logic to a system that wishes you to cause suffering or pain in others.
we should show love to anyone that moves beyond judgment and who steps down from self annointed hierarchy.

Ah, Pangel, you are so sweet. I have seen a good deal of the rest of the world ( outside the U.S.) and unfortunately here at home and abroad humanity is still struggling with the concept of "live and let live" or if you prefer "do as you will as long as it causes no hurt to yourself or others". So, to ask people to laud others for being peaceful and open minded is quite a leap for most. I applaude the notion though. You are an idealist, praise be. If only there were more.

No matter what the faith, there are zealots who think they and only they are right, personally I think anyone who never questions their faith is either brainwashed or pure ignorant. There are questions pertaining to all faiths. I lost my faith, I think I had every reason to, does that make me wrong, does it make me right? Whatever the answer, it's my decision. Never again will a priest tell me what's what. I do respect other peoples views and their belief in whatever faith they have but I cannot see the point in showing anyone love who doesn't deserve or merit it. Love is an easy word to say, too easy. This is of course, only my opinion.

We have a free will we decide what we do in life but remember Jesus said:"Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."John 14:6
I can't answer why others but I don't hate other people but I hate there actions. I know the Way to God so it's hard not to spread the good news that you can be free also! How?

(((((Pangel)))))

It's not religion that has failed us. It is humans.

Many people focus on the negative side of religion, but refuse to see the good.

They don't see people following Christianity or Islam and that they are peaceful.

I'm a Muslim and I'm open minded. Whoever said that doesn't know anything about me and look that person just generalized 1.2 billion people. What a hater.

Peace be with you.

You are right, we should be showing Love like Jesus did...for many people we are Jesus-with-skin-on. The only Jesus they will ever see. The apostle Paul told us: Eph 4:29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

I agree with what you are saying... to a point.

I am a Christian, but I am not going to force my opinions onto anyone else. Yes, Jesus commanded Christians to go and tell people in the world about him, but not force them to convert. The greatest commandment is to love God, and then to Love your neighbor as yourself.

But, at the same time, I believe that Compromising is wrong. You can disagree with someone, but still love them. Being open-minded has slightly different meanings depending on who you talk to. If you are meaning to accept and support everyone elses different beliefs, then, no, I cannot be open minded. If you are saying to be loving to people and understand what they believe, even if you thing it is wrong, then yes, I thing we should all be open minded.

It's a balancing act.
The deeper our faith takes us, the more "hardcore" we become.
The thing with religion is...it wars between one's head & one's heart.
Your heart has won!
I can't say the same. I battle back & forth between criticism & compassion.

Yes, but we should also set an example in seeking to love those who are bent on being un-lovable, to return thier derision with kindness, and hope that maybe they will get a clue one day...
