I'm not choosing her because i'm against the catholic religion....just because she's probably the most famous example and was deeply religious.

(Same question applies to the other monarchs/rulers and their supporters whatever their religious beliefs).

The new testament had been around over 1500 years when she became queen so they can't have interpreted the 'though shall not kill' thing very well huh?

Oh yeah....did all the people they burned go to hell,and if Mary didn't think she had to repent for the burnings will she too have gone to hell?

She did it because her father Henry broke away from the Catholic church and made his own and divorced her mother. And so when Mary had the chance to rule, she also got back at all the people that went along with her father's "new" church. She's where we get the nickname "Bloody Mary"

Often people think a country should be all one religion, to put a stop to endless arguments and fighting about different religious beliefs as often this divides the country, so I'm not sure that it's actually about religion as much as a power struggle

No more so than Oliver Cromwell who as Lord Protector murdered thousands of Irish people and burnt and sacked the whole city of Drogheda in Ireland.
