There is nothing wrong with carbs as long as you eat the right ones.

If you stick to low gi carbs you should be fine. The glycemic index basically explains how fast a carb breaks down into sugar in your body. When they break down very fast (as in white bread) your insulin level shoots up and you start storing fat.

Whole wheat or flourless bread, whole wheat pasta, brown rice, oatmeal, fruits and veggies are all good low gi carbs. You should have them about five to six times every day in small portions, along with some protein and fat. Veggetables (except potatos) you can have as often as you want, as long as you aren't putting on a lot of salad dressing or anything like that.

Here's a site for checking the gi of foods:
http://www.glycemicindex.com/

High protein is good, but not too high. You need a certain amount of carbs and fats (the right fats) to live.

You can track what you eat everyday on
fitday.com (free)
It will also give you a pie chart showing what percentage of your daily intake was proten, carbs, and fat. I like to keep to below 30% fat (25% if I can), about 30% -35% protein, and the rest good carbs.

Try tracking what you eat and see what percentage works for you.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter your stats and it will tell you how many calories a day you need to maintain your weight. take 300-400calories off that number and that's how much you need to lose weight.
eat 5-6 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones.
5-8 servings of fruit and vegetables a day.
8 glasses of water a day.
4-6 times a week cardio work out for 30-50min plus light weight training.
no junk food, no sodas, no white flour (white bread, pasta, cookies, cakes etc)

I learned on 20/20 Primetime, that it's not the weight that counts(not ALL that counts, anyway), but the waist. and on another episode, i also learned that cardio is "What's keeping you fat", they said. but that doesn't mean that you shoundn't do any cardio, becaues it's good for your heart, and somewhat prevents heart disease. but weight-lifting is the best way to lose weight and to keep it off. This woman was interviewed and she was a size 24 in women's. she quit doing cardio altogether, and started lifting weights, and had a 100 calorie diet(for every day), and she ate carrots, celery, grapes, and dry salads. Now--she's a size 4!! it took about I think somewhere around 8-10 months for her to lose all that weight. and i know 2 people personally who, one qiut drinking pop altogether for 2 months and lost 12 pounds, and the other drank diet pop for 2 weeks and lost 8 pounds. i hope all this helps you, and i wish you luck.

You can honestly eat anything you want, and if you eat them in small-portioned meals, you can lose weight. Eat around 1200 calories (a couple more can't hurt) a day, no less, and don't ever skip breakfast as it's what fuels your body for the rest of the day.
