When it says the phone takes photos "up to 640 x 480 pixels" then that camera is even crappier than a 1.3 mp camera, yes?

Right. Cellphone cameras are not for serious photography by any stretch of the imagination. In addition to crappy resolution, they have crappy optics, and crappy sensors. If you want to take good pictures, buy a camera, not a phone.
