Yes they can bite humans. And just for all of your information the common flea on dogs is really the cat flea. I have three dogs and have never had a flea on any of them. The secret is Frontline once a month. You do not need flea collars or baths. The stuff really works. It is not cheap but well worth the cost.

Yes!! They will bite and create itchy small red bumps that will drive you crazy.

If you have fleas you will need to take the family and all pets outside the house and fumigate it with a flea bomb, then while you're out bathe the dog or take it to the vet or a groomer to get a flea dip. You'll also need to treat your entire yard. Wash all the dog's stuff or the bedding where she sleeps with hot water and detergent.

You'll need to repeat the process every 3 weeks until the fleas are all gone.

Fleas can be hard to get rid of but you can do it!

Yes. In fact many small dogs are termed "lap dogs" because fleas in the Middle Ages were so prevalent among humans that it was common practice to take a dog upon your lap so that the fleas would jump onto the dog!

Dog fleas will certainly bite humans but they will not live on them, as humans are not the 'primary host'. Humans have their own species of flea (ick) that will bite dogs but not live on them. That person who said they knew a kid with fleas crawling on him - they would have been the human flea species. Again I say ICK - poor kid.

If your dog has fleas they'll be in your house too, so you'll certainly get a few bites - this is usually how people notice their animal has fleas! Treat your animal to save him and yourself - with a veterinary product mind, no petshop rubbish.

They can't be passed on the way they can between cats and dogs. (BTW - dog fleas can only survive on dogs. Cat fleas can survive on both cats and dogs)
They can however, live in the sofa, the carpet, anyplace and bite humans TRYING to live off them. Human blood doesn't have the right composition though for them to feed and breed on us.

Yes, they can certainly get on you and feed on you. They really don't like to live on us though...they prefer to live on and feed on animals instead. That's why humans don't have flea problems.....so much

If you are worried about it, just use good flea control, treat the area, and bathe regularly :)
