Note 1: You must pay a handling charge to Post Office Ltd or Worldchoice travel agents. This service is not guaranteed and turnaround times may exceed two weeks during periods of peak demand.
Note 2: If you are applying at a passport office, you must make an appointment by calling us on our 24-hour Passport Adviceline 0870 521 0410 (see terms and conditions). A Premium same-day service is only available on weekdays if you make an appointment for before 4pm in London, 1pm in Liverpool or 12 midday elsewhere. On Saturdays, the Premium same-day service is available for appointments for before 11am. The waiting time for your passport will be four hours once the application has been accepted and a receipt supplied by the cashier.
Note 3: Children aged 15 or under should apply for a child passport, which is valid for 5 years. Applicants aged 16 years or over should apply for an adult passport.
Note 4: applicants who were 16 years old or older at the end of World War 2 (that is, applicants born on or before 2 September 1929) are eligible for free standard 32-page ten year passports. Fast Track and Premium services will attract the difference between the standard passport fee of £66 and the fee charged for the enhanced service provided at the counter (for example, usual Fast Track fee is £91, less standard fee of £66– fee payable £25).
Note 5: A 48-page passport is only available through Premium service if you are applying to renew an existing passport.
We will send you your new passport by Secure Delivery. We normally return supporting documents by second-class post. The fee for the return of supporting documents by Secure Delivery is £3, unless you qualify for a concessionary passport as detailed in note 4.
