Sometimes I'm not so patient. But you learn by taking things into your own hands and messing up to stop trying so hard. I find that when I'm having a hard time waiting on God it's because I didn't really give God the problem. I just went to the altar, laid my burden down, thanked God, then picked the stupid thing up again. When you really lay your burdens at his feet, he takes the load from you.

I pray often.
God hears all the prayers of the righteous. But consider the following:
A Christian hunter is hunting bears in the woods. While walking up a hill he grabs a branch for leverage and it breaks sending the hunter tumbling down the hill, gun flying off elsewhere. When the hunter dusts himself off he sees a huge bear charging him. The hunter begins running, but trips and falls, landing on his knees. Seizing the opportunity, and being a good Christian, the hunter begins to pray, "Lord, make this bear a Christian."
The woods are quiet, the hunter turns and, Hallelujah! He sees the bear on his knees, paws together, praying! Listening, he hears the bear praying, "Father, bless this food to my body."
The key message here is that God answers prayers of the righteous, but the answer you get may not be the answer you want, but it will always be the right answer. Prayer is a coming to God, telling Him your need (or the need of others), committing your way unto the Lord, and then leaving God to deal with the case as seems best to Him.
How should one pray to God?
I speak to God in the same manner as I write these words to you now. That is, I have a plain conversation (no “thou’s” “thine’s”, “thy’s”!) with Him each day, especially out under the stars late at night as my family sleeps. My prayers are conversations that follow a pattern. I start every prayer with the following: "Most merciful God, not my will, but yours, be done." I repeat that phrase often during my prayers. Sometimes I will do so for tens of times just to quiet my mind and make it open to hearing from my Creator.
Use the following pattern in all your prayers and you will see them answered: Adoration, Contrition, Thanksgiving, and Supplication. See the links below for more information. (acronym: ACTS)

I grew up watching Grandma cooking on an old coal stove. I knew it would take most all day to cook beans and fix supper. But when it was ready it was good.
Now I stand in front of the microwave wishing it would hurry. When it gets done I find the food isn't as good as Grandmas.
Anything worthwhile is worth the wait.

Well - it's hard - because really - who has patience these days?!? lol
I get discouraged easily too - but I find that when I spend time in His word - I find answers. If you think about it - Christ's desire for how we are to live - is all written down for us! His love letter tells us everything we need to know. The other factor that I think is important is your relationship with Christ. I also find that when I don't talk to Him on a regular basis - I don't hear from Him as much either. It's hard to help someone when they don't talk to you.... ;)
My advice - is to keep close to Christ - talk with Him - and read His word - and if you still aren't getting the answers as quickly as you are wanting - you will still have comfort and peace knowing that your needs and wants are in the hands of your loving Savior.

Actually, from the bottom of my heart, when I was turning agnostic, I very very lovingly asked God for a certain sign he was real, and not 5 seconds after I opened my eyes, it came!
I'm not going to tell you the story though, b/c very few get this privilige, you'll have to figure out all the answers yourself
God Bless

we won't be able to easily experience the waves waiting for Him to promptly lead us. we would desire to constantly pay attention to His voice and positioned as much as Him each and every day. Being a Christian does make us puppets on a string- we nonetheless supply you the choice to maintain on with Him or no longer, yet as quickly as we adore Him we are able to obey Him.

Yes, I, too struggle with waiting on the Lord. :-)
What helps me is to remember that He is faithful and His timing is always perfect. His best is always better than what I could ever do or think of and if I wait on the Lord and seek His righteousness, delighting myself in His ways, He will give me the desires of my heart.
Because if I truly want His righteousness, the things that I wish for or want should be in line with what His will is for my life.

Waiting is the hardest thing I've had to learn...& I struggle with it, too.
I've learned to stay focused. Do what I already know to do.
Keep a positive attitude.
Remain grateful.
Stop focusing on what I don't have...on what I'm waiting for. Instead, focus on who G-d is & what He means to me.

It takes faith. Sometimes it is hard to wait, but we just need to know that God hears us and will answer us in His time.
