Errors Installing?

Question

I got errors involving somthing like "...error code 0x80002452 or 0x800300005 when installing blah blah ware."
And how do you format the hard drive.

I also have problems with my sound device. There seems to be no sound after upgrading Windows media centre

May I make a suggestion - before you format - which should be the fix of last resort - why not go for a Windows repair then go into Safe Mode to install.
