If you know your way around wiring diagram and can assemble a ship in a bottle, it can be done. My question is why would you want to when retro-fit kits are cheap and so much easier. RScott

I had to have an icemaker replaced in my Kenmore double a couple of years ago. The plumber told me that the icemaker he was putting in was not the original as no longer available....refrigerator was 10 yrs old....but that models had compatible parts replacements. The icemaker he put in is so much quieter and efficient. He also told me that no matter what the price of the fridge, be it a $5000 job or under $1000, icemakers are just plastic and they break down. Let me add, the replacements aren't cheap. Check with the plumber who is doing your job. Your don't want to mess this up for the price.

Not likely, at least not worth attempting, brands have a hard enough time getting their own parts to work.
