You have to convert the file, not just change the extension. There are potentially two ways of doing it: Load it into Works and save as a Word document or load it into Word (I think that's possible) and save it as a Word document.

Either method should do the trick.

If the previous answerer's post doesn't work, you can open the Works file, use File, Save as to save to a text file, then open the text file in Word. You may lose some formatting but all the text will be there - just format it.
