Many people perceive the Bible the way they see fit, instead of seeking the truth and its true intentions. If the Bible says something, such as "Be not drunk with wine", the reader may think "OMG i cant go on without that" so they take it literally and get drunk with beer. Then, that same person might take a quote from the Bible, but take it metaphorically, as this interpertation is best fitted to their style, and they will take advantage of it. That's pretty corrupt, no offense, but its the truth, people interpret the Bible the way they want it to be.

that's disgusting..the bible is a form of literature that was produced back in the day to control people especially woman...i think that's disgusting, how could you promote peace on earth and good will toward man and they say you should eat their flesh and drink their blood..i was not aware that cannibalism was supported by Christians.

Of course it is not literal.
The bible is a story book, meant to given guidence through life. It's a fairytale where you learn the moral of the story.
I can't believe people still take it into literal translation.
Glad I am an athiest...

If you would continue reading you would see what Jesus is talking about. There are figurative truths and there are literal truths. Keep reading you may find the truth yourself.

no, don't you understand the various styles of writing?
Would you read poetry as literal? Well many people don't realize that there is poetry in the Bible, as well as many other styles of writing
I would advise you to learn hermeneutics.

No. We eat and drink the Word of God. Jesus is the Word, the Bible is the Word of God. Think about it.

A) No, because the Bible contradicts itself.
B) No, because the Bible contradicts what we've seen in the real world.
C) This passage begs to be taken metaphorically. I can't imagine how he could possibly be promoting cannibalism.
